General Review (Cut down)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Prior the watch arriving my android phone died so I had to use my iPhone. After an internet search I confirmed that I could use the Gear 3 standalone or with iOS. I found and installed Gear Manager beta App for iOS and all was good. My First Impressions when it arrived was how luxurious the package was, like what you would expect from a luxury mechanical watch. Out of the box the watch felt and looked. Once powered up, I was greeted by beautiful colours on a deep black face. Rotating the bezel felt very well built with a solid yet light and very precise. The S3 does looks very handsome, solid and reliable, definitely the best looking smart watch to date. The Gear S3 paired easily with my iPhone and within seconds notifications appeared on the Gear S3. One of the functions I really liked was being able to view and respond to messages which seemed to work well up until I updated the watches firmware which seemed to removed this option for IOS uses like myself, hopefully this will return with being able have multiple contact methods for each contact i.e. phone, text, email etc. The fitness apps work really well, with it correctly detecting my activities even when switching from running and cycling and when sat down for too long (good over Christmas). Using the S3 for handling Bluetooth calls was clear, but pointless as the UK watch has no SIM option so not sure of the benefit o talking to your wrist when you would have your phone or headphones handy. I spent hours trying to install watch faces as there really isn’t much else on the Gear App Store of use at present which is a real disappointment for a smart watch. Maybe a good thing as to be honest installs took far too long due to continuous disconnecting and reconnecting with the phone. N.B. This really needs to be addressed as I have given up installing apps to try due to the unnecessary pain. I believe that Samsung’s Tizen operating system is too far behind the competition to really be a serious option hence Samsung need to drop the Tizen OS and migrate to Android Wear if it’s really going to be a success especially when up against Apple and Android OS options with far more apps. This is a shame as the hardware is very well built and looks really good. I give this 4 stars in the hope that the app store will grow soon otherwise I think a 3 out of 5 is fair and I could not recommend this because of its Tizen ecosystem.

Do not buy

Over the years I have had many Samsung devices. Every single one of them has given me problems. This watch was my last attempt to give Samsung another chance and I cannot say I will be doing it again. I bought this watch last night for $300.00 and got it all set up to use. It is a very nice looking smart watch and for the time it worked I enjoyed using it. Problem is the main reason I bought this smart watch is to use the touch to pay with normal card readers. To begin getting that service set up was a pain in the butt. I had to enable unknown devices and go through a very irritating setup process. The whole setup to be able to use the service in the first place took me three hours. When I finally got to the point where I could call my bank to activate my cards my debit card activated just fine. I called to activate my credit card twice and it didn't work even once. Then when I used this to pay for my prescription I tested it twice and each time it said declined. I then pulled my card out of my wallet and used it in the card reader and it was approved first time. I was also having issues with the S voice feature. No matter what command I gave it said "I am unable to process that right now, please try again later." When I contacted 1 (800) SAMSUNG for technical support the specialist I talked to told me to try resetting the entire watch. I followed the steps and attempted to reset it. The watch reset just fine. When I connected it to my phone I would try and update the Samsung apps and it would keep telling me that the device was disconnected and it couldn't update. So I cleared the app cache and data and reset the watch again. This time when I opened the Samsung apps folder in the Samsung gear app it constantly told me "Your device is not compatible with Samsung apps. Please contact Samsung for further assistance." I knew that was untrue because the technician I was on the phone with just a few minutes prior told me my phone was in fact compatible. Finally I completely uninstalled the Samsung Gear app and all of it's extensions and reinstalled it all again resetting the watch for a third time. This time I got it all setup again and it took me three attempts to finally get Samsung pay to install. Once I finally contacted my bank and got my debit card activated again I went to try and use it at Starbucks which actually has a NFC card reader. The watch gave me the exact same issue. I called 1 (800) SAMSUNG again for technical support and after going round and round with them explaining my issue repeatedly before she finally got it she told me she would have to escalate my issue to higher tech support for further troubleshooting beyond resetting the watch. At this point I was fed up and I told her not to bother sending this to higher up tech support as I would be returning this watch. This is the last Samsung mobile device I will ever buy. When you spend so much on a device you expect it to work. I have had several Motorola and LG devices and none of them have given me the issues that Samsung has. Samsung, much like Apple, used to be the leader in tech innovation and they have fallen far from their throne. I'm not saying that if you have a Samsung phone it won't work I'm just merely saying that if you don't have one then chances are pretty good it won't. Samsung has lost a very loyal customer.

Outstanding

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having never had a smartwatch before I didn't really know what to expect from the Gear S3 and had my doubts how much I would use it above a normal watch. How wrong I was!! I received the Frontier model which has a slightly more 'outdoorsy' feel, very stylish and you can tell the build quality as soon as you take it out of the box. Battery life is very good lasting at least two days without fail and I will never get bored of changing the watchface display. Synced to my smartphone without a glitch and find i'm not taking the phone out of my pocket so much to check messages etc. Great product, surprisingly useful and highly recommended.

This the best watch out there today!

This is by far the best wearable technology on the market today. I got this watch and instantly fell in love with it. The size and weight are perfect. Not too big, not too small. The face shows everything clear. I am really impressed with the battery life. I used this watch for 4 days straight and it still didn’t need a charge. I think the most use I got was 6 straight days. The pedometer is accurate. It keeps track of everything precisely. Even the heart rate monitor is accurate. One thing I really like about this watch is the notifications. I get all my FB, IG, email, and news notifications. This actually saved me the hassle of checking my phone all the time, which improved my cell phone battery life. If you are looking at this watch, BUY IT! You will love it.

Love just doesn't explain it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this watch. I upgraded from another Samsung device and this is beyond what I was expecting. I love the speaker feature where I can answer calls, speak text messages, listen to music and speak reminders to be stored on my watch. The display is clear and bright. I have gotten so many compliment about this watch and other who want it for themselves. It is unlike anything else that is currently on the market.

Great Watch

Clean, neat, and easy to use. Battery lasts 3 full days of moderate use. (had 15% left at that point) Sound quality for calls is excellent and microphone allows you to talk while driving while keeping hands on wheel. Definite recommend. Only con I have is that it doesn't allow some wifi connections with certain sign on protocols.

Does it all

Gear S3 Frontier seems rugged enough for most outdoor activities. Screen is clear and bright, even in direct sunlight. Battery life exceeded 24 hours with frequent use. Full charge took less than 3-hours from 15%. Setup using Samsung Gear app was a snap and sync'd easily with my Galaxy Note 5.. Samsung pay NFC works perfectly. GPS, steps tracking, and heart monitor are spot on. Downside is S-voice, which is clearly inferior to either Siri or Google. Also wished S-Health partnered with My Fitness Pal, but I find that using it with Lifesum is just as good (maybe even better). I am very happy with my purchase and glad I waited for the S3 since I like the improvements over the S2 both in function and style.

Just about everything I need right on my wrist.

I bought my S3 to help track my activities after noticing that the basic Samsung Health on my Note didn’t register when I work be working on projects not requiring a lot of steps. Now I have a more accurate record of my daily level of activity. I have yet to fully utilize many of the available functions of my S3. I guess that is the problem with having a phone and watch smarter than I am.

Love it!

I've been wanting a smartwatch for a while. I'm glad I waited until the S3 came out! It's beautiful, I can answer phone calls and respond to texts right from the watch. It is on the bigger size but definitely not just "made for men," as some critics have mentioned. The health features are great. The sleep tracker is very accurate. My husband has a Garmin watch and it records that he's been sleeping for 17 hours a night...it's so far off - unless it's tracking the amount of sleep you WISH you could get! My only wish is that there was an app that could link up with other smartwatches (ie, Garmin) so we could challenge each other.

Samsung G3 Bluetooth

This is an excellent watch. Perfect size and great looks. Has many excellent features. I really love the free different watch faces that you can choose from. It is the best smart watch out in the market. I love the Samsung line of products and never had any issues. Waiting for the Note 8 to come out that this watch would compliment perfectly. Great job. Keep churning out great products.
