Honest Review

Had this for a year now and I have grown to dislike it. Each update makes it slow. The wake up gesture doesn't work as well now. I find myself flicking my wrist all the time just to get it to show the display. I would turn on the always on display but that would drain the battery life which is only good for a day. It's like having another phone attached to your wrist with nothing really much to gain. If you get this for your step counter and excersise tracking, just use the phone. The step counter isn't accurate at all. The amount of options on the s health app isn't enough to justify the use of this as a tracker.

Some Great, Some Work Needed

Needs to add a Google search feature. to Google search the internet from The Watch. Talk to text recognition is shotty at times. Mainly when I'm driving and I need it the most. Waterproof works really well. Have taken a bath and shower with it on more than one occasion. Fitness applications work well, but limited on the amount of fitness trackers that can be added. Banking, stock market, and other apps that are used daily should be added as well. Factory added Bloomberg app is useless. Wish Samsung would have kept the camera on the watch. At this price point there should not be a limit on futures.

Would it be the best SMart Watch on the market?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is good piece of kit although not for everyone. Some will find it difficult to justify high price, but some will find it very valuable and helpful. I’ve used mine for few weeks now and I’ve got mixed fillings. Let’s start with the benefits. For me (engineer working at heights), the best function is a built-in speaker and microphone. I don’t have to reach for my phone to receive or make a call. Great! It can be very handy whilst driving as well. The same with notifications, messages, email etc. Reminders, calendar and other similar feature known from smartphone are good but you will still mostly set up your reminders and appointments on the phone. It’s just easier on the bigger screen, but notifications popping up on your wrist are a good thing. There are certain aspects of the phone you can control via the watch like sound level, music and video. Additionally you can control the camera via the 3rd party app and probably much more I didn’t discovered yet. Not bad. I like to be gently waken up by the vibrating watch with no sound whatsoever. If you need a little bit more, then full volume will wake up most of the people. I don’t really us all the things like weather widget, news feed etc. but they are there if you need them. I’m enjoying using S Health app. It automatically recognises your activity, constantly monitoring your heart rate and movement. It takes few minutes to recognise the “workout” and it’s not always accurate but gives you a new perspective on how active you are. Nice bonus of this new “smart” technology. It will even remind you to get up and stretch when you seating steady for too long. It automatically tracks your sleep patterns and can be paired with the mobile apps to get even more insight in to your night. To Aps then. I didn’t install many aps or widgets so far but you can find anything from new watch faces, through aps from various categories like: finance, lifestyle, social networking, entertainment, utilities, etc. ending with the games. Yes! You can play games on it! Having said that, the choice is not grate at the moment. There are tens, maybe hundreds of apps, some free some paid, but it’s still early days for smartwatches. More will definitely come in the future. Design wise – it is a good-looking watch. I’ve been testing the Classic version and I have to say it’s not my personal style. It looks very good, shiny, with the leather strap etc.

Very Disappointing

I am a vivid Samsung fan, I have their TVs, Galaxy Note, ear pods etc. I bought the frontier a little a couple of years ago and right after warranty expired conveniently the home button does not function properly anymore. Unfortunately the only way around it is to press together both home and back button to try and have functions that the home button would originally show. Very disappointing.

Awesome product!!

Just got the Samsung Gear S3 and it is amazing! This is my 3rd smartwatch and it is by far the best. Cool apps, sweet design. It is a little big for my wrist but I've gotten used to it. Love being able to answer my phone or reply to texts from the watch.

Not a fitness device

I hope people reviewing this giving it 4+ aren't using it for fitness. It's not an accurate pedometer AT ALL. Right now my Fitbit has tracked 2k+ steps and my Gear S3 1k. I've bee monitoring them for accuracy and gear s misses anything below 15 consecutive steps. It only starts counting after 15 and stops once the person stops and doesn't pick back up until the next set of 15. Samsung workaround for this, disabling rowing and elliptic trackers do not work.

Loving it so far

Used to have the Gear S2 Classic and upgraded to the S3 and so far am loving it. the speaker a couple of extra features and a nicer band is nice to have now. Only thing that I don't like is the thickness, it is thicker than the S2 but I guess the perks make up for it and I have gotten used to it now. So far I've used it with the Note 5 and Galaxy S8.

Not just a gimmick

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finally a smartwatch that is and looks like a real watch. I have owned other smartwatches and it has been obvious what they are, the design and the screen blanking out makes then stand out The S3 its designed by a watchmaker so its looks and feels like a watch. Also you get the option of having the screen always on. That reduces the battery but I still get 48 hours out of it The bezel may seem outdated but it works so well. You get greater control and no failed swipes, useful for cancelling nuisance calls. The S3 is also the 1st watch I have had that is both a smartwatch and a fitness watch - most are one or other with a little of the other thrown in. It has its own gps and a built in heart rate monitor. I have a fitness watch where the monitor stuck out of the back of the watch so that irated my skin. This one is flush with the back of the watch so you dont realise its there

Multiple Issues

I bought this watch 1 year ago and have had multiple issues. I was given a second watch because of issues and now the second one is doing the same thing. The warranty is expired so I am stuck with a inferior product. The watch battery won't stay charged and the watch face fades in and out.

First smart watch

Let's start off with the one I have is the tmobile one (Frontier) This is the first smart watch I've ever owned and I have absolutely fallen in love with this watch! I have owned and still have some really nice watches big heavy thick built like tanks type of watches (Invicta ones ) .. The Frontier is not as heavy and not as thick over all, but the quality is top notch. The band is of pretty decent quality it's a soft rubber and is fairly comfortable. I kinda wish it had a leather or full Metal band but that's just my preference and in no way takes away from the watch in any way.. the 22mm quick release band does what it's supposed to do and is very easily replaceable and if you shop around online you will find plenty to keep you happy in every color and texture. The watch it's self is very easy to use and navigate around in , it's pretty easy to just start turning the bezel or touch the screen and just look around to find what you're looking for, not overly complicated. Watch faces, apps, fonts ,security ect... There are a few things that I'm still trying to figure out, such as removing the music I put on there.. still looking on how to do that... which brings me to the other thing that I wish for on this over all almost perfect watch.. the storage and memory both I just wish were a bit bigger.. just a bit more ram would have been nice... and the biggest on the wish list is way more than just 4gigs ... with the built-in apps they take a big chunk of space.. not sure if possible but 8 would have been really good and 16 gig would have put this at near perfect level for me.. I understand that the wish list would have put this at a higher price point but I think in my opinion it may have been worth it. The set up was easy and painless.. receiving messages and phone calls again were on point.. the sound quality was perfect from both ends. The placing of called and writing text was on point to also.. but fyi.. the writing on the small screen I found to be more of a hassle so I just spoke out the message I needed to send. Just so much more I can say about the s3 Frontier which would be almost all good and maybe 1 or 2 things bad , but the good definitely outweighs the bad , so much so that even with the very few things I found that I just wish were a bit better or just more ,this is an outstanding, well balance and good looking watch that is a flat out must buy for yourself or that special person in your life. Also if you have never owned or thought of a smart watch there is not a better place to start. So far I almost find myself using it as much or more than my phone. Especially if you are in a job or place that pulling out your phone is not convenient or possible. Being able to read or answer your calls or text messages discreetly is pretty nice also not having to worry about having my phone or forgetting it the car or my home and still being able to have those that need to get in touch .. well get in touch.. is really really convenient. For those that have this watch ....enjoy it.. for those on the fence just get it!!
