I bought this player after reading countless reviews of blu ray players from a variety of manufacturers. This was consistently rated the best by many. I have not been disappointed. It is responsive and displays impressive picture quality. However, there is a major flaw with the unit: its remote control. It is very small and nearly impossible to operate. Why design engineers would pair this remote with an otherwise superior player is beyond me. It is so bad I searched the internet for a replacement and bought a remote (AK59-00167A) from an earlier Samsung model. It works perfectly. They should have left well enough alone.

I haven't had any issues or problems with this player. I don't mind that it doesn't display the time on the front of the player because it's in an av rack and you can just press the info button on the remote to see it on the screen. I've read that no one likes the remote, but I just use my remote from my other samsung player.

This is the best Ultra HD player I own. Best picture and best features I have it playing on a Samsung 2016 55 inch 4K ultra HD TV and the picture Quailty is awesome. Great price for an exceptional product on the 4K Ultra HD Blue Ray player and the TV. I reccomend both to anyone wanting the best picture and features for the best price.

Easy to set up and begin watching movies. Its light, good looking, with many features. Gave it 4 stars for overall rating due to IMO remote control is too small. Why does Samsung make their remotes so small. Have dropped my remotes for my Samsung curved TVs many times. I'm sure it will be the same with this 4K player.

You will notice that I emphasized this 2016 player is 4k with HDR Player and also has......." 3D on board". I own three Samsung 4K TV's. A top of the line 2014 78 inch and a top of the line 2015 78 inch and a 2015 88 inch. All these TV's have 3D on board and capable of 4K HDR. I recently purchased 3 UBD-K8500 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player's for each of the TV's and I must say they are just great. Love the quality of the picture as well as the 3D and the HDR. I truly feel Samsung and all the manufactures should consider putting 3D back in the 2018 series lines as many of us true cinema lovers would like to have all the great technology that we have purchased. I have a huge library of 3D movies that I would not give up enjoying them without the right TV and Blu-Ray player. In my opinion the 4K HDR feature that has not proven itself in regards to quality 4 K HDR as most movies are not produced in true 4K to begin with. The producers need to take the Blu-Ray releases of movies more seriously and not releasing older Blu-Ray movies in 4K that look just as good up-scaled normal Blu-Ray releases. I have read multiple reviews of 4k HDR movies and find very few titles that exceed the quality of normal Blu-Ray releases that are up-scaled. , Samsung has done a outstanding job on there 2014, 2015 TV's that included 3D in their top of the line models as well as this 2016 UBD-K8500 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player. Movie lovers I hope will encourage all major features be included in future TV's and Blu-Ray players. At the writing of this review I did not notice 3D in the specs of the 2017 model on this web site, so 3d lovers if this is the case you need to purchase the 2016 model. Enjoy your movies and support features that are important to you. Your voice will help for future products.

This player does a good job of playing HDR movies, 3D movies and bluray movies.and up scaling to 4K. The design appears cheap and plastic but functionally it works fine. The instructions on how to add apps or move apps on the player are non existent and need to be added in a firmware update. The on/off light is too small and is very difficult to see from more than a few feet away. The remote is very bad and I ended up using my remote from an older model player.

I got a replacement for this model because some of my "homemade" movies wouldn't work, however the same problem with the replacement. What is odd is my old Samsung blu ray does play those same movies no problem. Other than this issue its a nice machine. The remote doesn't operate as smoothly as I wished (typing in info). All in all it is a nice player. when the movie didn't play there was no error message to research. Just a blank screen. That was concerning.

i love this DVD player. it has great functionality, the picture is breathtaking and for the price i think it is a good investment for your home entertainment center. the 4k UHD is awesome, the standard DVD upconvert is awesome, i have zero complaints about this product. i cant say enough good things about it. i got netflix on it, i also have amazon tv, and youtube as well. if you buy this, you wont be disappointed.

No other way to put it, the remote is terrible. Buttons are very close together and not very user friendly. As for the picture it does a very good job of playing UHD blu rays and regular Blu rays. Regular blu rays upconvert with very little to no artifacts. Dvd's the problem is it is a very low resolution to begin with and you can only do so much video processing. I have read many reviews that stated this machine was slow to start up but have been pleasantly surprised at how quick it is from turning on and playing a disc. A display on the front would have been nice. Initial setup was very easy.
