I've owned this since release day and have been amazed at it's speed and quality. It loads blu-rays and Ultra HD blu-rays at an incredible speed over previous generations. Menus load instantly. Updates have been frequent and easy to install. The only thing I could live without is purely cosmetic and it's the curved front. Just looks awkward with all my AV equipment. Honestly though, you can't go wrong with this player if you're a videophile or audiophile. The Dolby Atmos sounds unreal, it's hard to describe without hearing it for yourself. I just got the DTS X update, so I can't wait for some content to try.

The product actually great especially in UHD 4K mode. But the only issue right now for me is that it stopped working for no reason at all. I believe I've only used this for about 6x times watching 4K movies and now it does not turning on anymore (no power) Sadly it is now out of warranty :-(

Perhaps a bit too sophisticated for me. Can't seem to get the audio and video synced up perfectly. Too many adjustments for the lag time and none of them exactly correct. But my Audio Receiver has a lag adjustment also, so have not determined which witch is the culprit. Both are 4K as is my Samsung TV. (The receiver is not Samsung). The upscaling for the 4K works well and the picture is great! Now if I can just stop thinking I'm in an old Oriental Kung FU movie, I'll be happy.

I've only played just regular Blu-rays on this thing and it looks beautiful. Once i get a UHD blu-ray movie i bet is going to look twice as better than a regular blu-ray. I seen a lot of reviews and they been good. I would definitely recommend this player.

This is my first 4k blu-ray player and I'm happy with the results of the performance. 4k makes the whole movie great, I can watch one movie all day and not be disappointed because of the picture quality. Just to wrap things up I'm satisfied with my purchase.

I originally bought this as the multi region model. I set it up, then as I began it told me it needed to update itself. This broke the unit and I sent it back. Being my only Samsung product I was not very happy with Samsung. Eventually, I ordered a regular version of this unit and it performs very well. Enough to change my mind and I just pre-ordered a Galaxy S 8 phone.

A few months I was pushed into purchasing a 4k TV. With limited 4k options, I looked around for a good player and this seemed to be the defacto benchmark unit. It has a weird shape but that was minor issue. I was eager to test the performance but found 4k test videos sparse on the Internet. There are 3 faces to the unit: DVD/Blu-ray player, multimedia, apps. This seems to be trend to add more tricks to the pony. I thought the player side should be a blip but it came with AK59-00179A remote control. It is stripped down so you have to jump through hoops to do some basic things like fast forward and change languages/subtitles. I tried the regular remote for the Samsung DVD player and it worked great. The functionality is there, you just have buy a separate remote control to get around the problem. I then tried the multimedia side. After finding a few 4k test videos, I watched them on a USB thumb drive. The true 4k was impressive but the functionality of the multimedia was limited and when I tried to access a DLNA server I had set up on a Raspberry Pi, I had to go through a lot of folders just to reach the videos. I guess there wasn't much expectation to use the multimedia side. Most of the focus seems to have been on the apps side. I do not have a Samsung smartphone or tablet but I suspect there is better integration with those devices. It would have been nice to include a demo disc to show what the player is capable of doing. Just as with the introduction of HD, junk in junk out. A video that says 4k may just be scaled up 720 or 1080 and I expect a lot of videos that would be best left at their lower resolution rather than passing them off as something better. If you have a true 4k video, you will definitely notice the results with this player.

I decided to make the plunge into 4K HD blu-ray discs and bought the Samsung UBD-K8500 player. I have a plasma flat screen, not a 4K HD flat screen, but the Samsung player produces sharp, distinct images. The picture is magnificient. Setup was a snap. If you want to upgrade to 4K HD blu-rays, this is the player to add to your home theater operation....

I bought this to complement my UHD television. I have nothing but great words to say regarding Samsung products. The audio and video are sometimes out of sync, but it is easily corrected. The price is high and will come down in time as with most tech.

This is my first 4k UHD player but it is very nice. SAMSUNG GUI is ok but performance is great. Colors and contrast are awesome. 4k BD are so much better than Regular R BD. I have had to rewatch many of My Blu Ray movies because they just look so much better. Set up was easy and quick. Load time was also fast. Nice player you can't go wrong.
