Remote not turning the RoKu device on.

After setup the Roku seemed to work great. However, the remote will not turn the Roku device on after being off for approximately 10 - 15 minutes. To fix you have to unplug device and plug back in to reset.... should not have top do that all the time. Followed all instructions for paring device ,TV and internet. Even found community notes for resetting Roku but nothing has helped. There is no technical support contact phone number on the website to reach out for help issues not identified on the website.

PLEASE DON’T BUY THIS!!! DOES NOT WORK

I bought this at the end of November and I haven’t used it much at all since I’m not a big tv watcher. However 2/21/22 my device stopped connecting to the WiFi and that seems to be a common issue with this product. It says I have excellent signal strength and all my other devices are connected to WiFi except my Roku. I really hate that I invested in this device, not only because it doesn’t work but because you can’t even get in touch with any in support after you’ve followed all the troubleshooting steps that are pointless and don’t work. Roku knows it’s their devices that are horrible but they’ll continue to say check your connection. Don’t waste your time or money. And Roku, DO BETTER!!!!!

Great but, doesn't work after a year

I'm pretty sure we've had this Roku Express for a year, worked great now it won't connect to the internet even though the internet works fine and the Roku is very close by. I've reset it, factory reset it, restarted Roku and Router and nothing. Again, internet work perfectly fine but, doesn't pick up on Roku. Used to work really well, internet wise but now it doesn't work with the internet at all. Bummed

Continuous Purple loading screen

upon set up and connecting to the internet a prompt comes up stating the device will now update. After this up date the device restarts stays at a purple screen for 10 minutes and restarts again and does this in a continuous cycle, tried a different tv, hdmi cable, power cable and box for roku, downloaded the app, and yet nothing helped. I also held the reset button in every way imaginable.

Doesn't include 5G Wifi.

What the heck? Every other wifi device I've purchased in the last 5 years has included 5G wifi. But not this. And it's not even really advertised as such. "Std" wifi, vs "fast" wifi? Are you purposefully trying to hide that? This is a a hobbled unit right out of the box.

Been using for 6 months and...

I have been using the express fir aboyt 6 months. It is easy to use and set up but if you use it on standard 1080p tv it can look like crap. Hbo max constantly freezes and you have to reset the device. Extremely agrivating. I put my comcast flex on same tv and WOW what a difference. The picture is so much clearer with the flex. I am so glad I got the roku for free. I would not pay money for this thing. Beware dear buyer and know your refresh rate (which is not listed here). If you have an older tv you might regret it.

Passing through By ROKU

Hello, I hope y’all are doing wonderful, today, because l just love the way I can stream with Roku. For the first time in my life, I’ve finally found a way, that I finally can actually enjoy my New ROKU WIDESCREEN T. V. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO BLESSED, as I’am now. defective

The remote had to be pointed a few inches from the device for it to work. We could not sit on the couch and use it. We had to walk up to the TV every time we wanted to make a selection using the remote. Roku will sell you a defective product and then make you pay the shipping to return or replace. I think that's bad business.

Poor reception of strong signal

While every other wireless device I have sees a strong wifi signal, the Roku sees a weak signal and insists I move my router which is less than 15 feet away. (It also sees only two networks when I know for a fact that there are a dozen in the vicinity.) The result is poor picture quality, frequent buffering, and apps that crash. I've tried all the suggestions in the forum, and nothing gets better - it's a really long thread going back over a year with no actual solution provided, just lots of people with the same problem, including noting that the device runs really hot. I've already done the factory reset once and really don't want to go down that road again.

Big things in small packages!

I just bought two of the Express models. I finally cut the cord with my satellite tv company. I am loving the streaming Roku! I signed up for live tv and I do not miss satellite TV at all!. I highly recommend to everyone to purchase one of these.
