Bad batch- stink tub

My sister loves pork rinds so I bought her this tub. Upon opening it she said it was like having someone throw a fart in your face. And unfortunately, she ate it (the fart, not the pork rinds). She couldn’t phantom the thought of putting one of these things in her mouth. I had to get rid of the entire tub. I’m not sure if I just got a bad batch or what.

The safety seal is atrocious!

The poor and aggravating way the containers are sealed is my complaint! It’s melted to the rim making it difficult to remove and then impossible to seal with the lid. Freshness is out the window! There are always some contents left inedible before finishing.

Not as good as Utz

We've been buying the Utz pork rinds at Sam's for some time. They are great. We just bought these Member's Mark ones a couple of times because our club now only has these. They are not as good. They fall apart, crumble. Personally, the whole 'let's only offer Members Mark" is not a great strategy in my opinion. There are just certain things I want brand name - clothes, towels, foods. Sorry.

Crumbs & Rocks

I have been buying UTZ brand at Sam's and loved them. When we went to Sam's last week, they did not have the UTZ pork rinds - only Member's Mark. So I decided to try them. WRONG MOVE!!! We have been Sam's Club Members for years and usually find the house brand an acceptable substitute for the name brand. That is certainly not the case with Member's Mark pork rinds. In the top 3 or 4 inches of the jar the "used to be rinds" are nothing but crumbs. Like someone pounded on them to be able to get the right weight in the jar. The taste is terrible - BURNT!!! Many of the rinds are HARD ENOUGH TO BREAK A TOOTH ON!!! This is the first and only time I will buy this brand of pork rinds. For Sam's to claim this is a top-rated product is laughable. These are a waste of good money and expensive jars. BRING BACK THE UTZ BRAND!!!

bad choice

I bought these because my usual brand was not available at sams club for some crazy reason. They do not have the quality and taste as my usual brand, they were more to hard ones that you can’t eat than they were good ones. Will not purchase these again, and this container is smaller than the one that I usually get. I guess I’ll have to buy my usual brand online, sams has really let me down this time, because we eat these things everyday.

Packaged with air

When these large containers come they looked packed full so I thought you are getting your money's worth. Since they are in a thin plastic container and not a bag, the makers can't use the excuse that the chip companies use, "there is so much air in them to avoid crushing" but Sam's West out of Bentonville, AR opted to go ahead and use air anyway. After you open the lid and take the seal off you can feel the air come out and see the contents go down a couple of inches. Is the air necessary or is it just another deceptive way to trick customers? I don't know. As far as taste, they are oily. The fat they are fried in coats the roof of your mouth and you can feel (some of) the rinds squeeze fat out as you chew. Some rinds are so hard that I can not break them up with my teeth and, I discovered, my dog with a good pair of chompers struggles to bite into those too. I pawned the over fried ones off to him. There are a bunch of smaller, harder, ones so he gets his fair share. They are probably not good for dogs so I'm not recommending this. All and all they are pork skin fried in fat with some salt tossed in for good measure. I will continue to buy them to ease my yearning for something crunchy. Chips have gotten far too pricey for me to buy. I should just cut out all fried snacks from my diet but I swear, I crave a good crunch in the evening and popcorn sticks in my teeth so this seems to be the answer (for me). There are 80 calories per 1/2 oz (14g) On a digital scale a serving looks like the pics. Before breaking the seal and after pictures included as well if this review allows me to attach them.

Recipe Change Fail!!!

I have been buying the Members Mark Pork Rinds for a few years now. On my last shopping trip I noticed they changed the label design and color. I didn't pay much attention to the new label and purchased them like any other time. When I got home and opened the container I immediately noticed an artificial smoke smell to the pork rinds. Again, I've purchased these multiple times in the past and never has there been a smoke smell to them. I decided to try one and the smoke flavor was strong and not pleasing at all. Sams Club, I'm not sure why you decided to change the recipe on these but these get a grade of F for me. They are no longer enjoyable and now I won't be able to purchase these moving forward. I wish big companies would just leave their products alone sometimes. If it isn't broke it doesn't need fixing. I'd be happy to visit your food lab where you test ideas so we can get these pork rinds back to a more palatable flavor.

Check the date

You never know what to expect. Sometimes they’re crunchy and good. Sometimes they are to greasy. Some of it is too hard to chew. The last two buckets were stale, so I looked at the label, one was 5 and the other was 7 months past expiration date. I will definitely be looking at the date before I purchase anymore!!

Not durable!

I've been a long time fan of Utz brand, and thought switching to Sam's brand would be like for like; I was wrong. Utz seems to be fresher, and more durable. The Sam's brand is too soft and they fall apart easily. If they found a way to make them withstand a dip, I would give more stars. But for now, I will stick with having the better brand of Utz shipped to my home, since my local Sam's no longer carries Utz in store.
