The name is deceiving because I use it for so much more then just packing boxes for shipping. In a week I've used it multiple times from a rip in my window shade to a tear in a binder cover. It's strong and clear so I tend to use it for lots of things around the house.

My husband ships products often, and he tried this out. He ran to me to rave about it!! He was thrilled to not have to re-stick the tape down by hand after a few minutes. It stuck exactly where he put it and had a strong seal.

I received this product free from 3M and it is now my go to packing tape. It’s the strongest I have used thus far and that makes me feel like my package will get to its destination safely.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a free sample of 3M Scotch Heavy Duty Packaging Tape and used this product to seal a package to mail. The tape is wonderful! It dispensed very easily and smoothly. This tape is strong enough to tape cartons of books with just one strip! The adhesive on the tape really holds. The other thing I like about this tape is that it is clear so it can easily be used over labels without fear of covering important shipping information. The amount and length could be a little longer but it's enough. The tear teeth are sharp and make it easy to get any size piece you need.

1. We sealed the bottom of the boxes and then packed. The boxes remained in the AC but when we went to move the boxes they had to be re-taped. Had to use twice as much tape. Was it designed so that consumers had to buy more? 2. The tape kept getting stuck to the roll instead of staying up in the prongs. You then had to spend 5 minutes trying to get a clean thread once you got all of the little Strands to peel in synch. We have moved a lot! I always use this tape , but looking for new brands!!!

This past Halloween, being in a time crunch, decided to use a much cheaper clear packing tape. Not surprisingly, it was nearly impossible to start the roll, and the dispenser itself was dull. We ended up using scissors to cut. Most importantly, it just would not stick! We used double the amount of tape just hoping it would work. Oh well, now we know! Scotch Rocks! Even when I'm not moving...I'm using this for so many other things at home: crafts, school projects, quick fixes :) This stuff is the best in the universe !!!
