I love dark roasts but this was just dark for the sake of being dark - no depth of flavor, mostly just bitterness. There was also a strong plasticky smell on the 10% of the beans that were at the bottom of the bag - I threw out two batches of coffee that had absorbed so much artificial bag smell that I couldn't drink the coffee. I wound up cutting it with a house blend and it's fine, but I'll be glad when it's gone.

I absolutely love Starbucks coffee but this one misses the mark. I bought the Espresso Roast Dark beans and I received bitter, burnt tasting coffee. Always have enjoyed a dark roast coffee. Even tried using fewer scoops when making the coffee--didn't work. Expiration date is good. Wish I could return the bag. Stay away from this one.

I always wanted to try this coffee. I just received a bag of this coffee. I ground up a batch, same as I do for Member's Mark Columbia Supremo. I use the reusable pods in a Kurig Single cup maker. I like my coffee strong and add nothing to it. This stuff was weak. I have tried the Starbucks House Blend in the past and was really good. I buy it when Sam's has it on Instant Savings. I thought I was going to get a strong, full-flavored coffee. I grind it fine using my reusable pods, with a filter, and pack it full. The Member's Mark is really good, this stuff was weak.
