Can’t go wrong with a black Sharpie marker. They last forever and will write on any surface. Working in kitchens they’re the only brand I will ever use.

Writing on my son's basketball items so everyone knows it his and the players will not get them mixed up they hold their color and they and hard to fade u can put them anywhere and take them with you the words are very sharp and crisp
