I bought a can of ro-tell today. I opened it up for my dip and all there was in the can was chopped up tomatoes. Not one green pepper to be found and it tasted like tomatoes only. The cheese dip tasted like melted cheese with tomatoes chunks

We've used original RoTel tomatoes for 25 years to make queso. The last several times we noticed it tastes weirdly sweet. Repeated that experience just now, today. I'm glad to know it's not our imagination.

I used this in a vegan “queso” recipe that I make and it complimented the other ingredients very well. It’s got some spice but not overwhelmingly hot and is a classic staple for any Mexican style dip.
