This is a new generation of SPAM the can is nice and lined with a white vinyl lining and the meat quality has gone WAY up from the days in the `601s and before..I come from a family that has worked in the meat packing industry for a long time..the quality of the meat used in spam has increased by at least 100 percent!

The first can had an off taste, similar to baloney. I couldn't finish it and threw the last slice away. The second can is SUPER salty. I served it with mayo and chopped onion, hoping to mask the intense saltiness, but it didn't work. It's too salty to be palatable. I intend to throw the rest of this can away too. Both cans are more dense and packed tightly together, in a firmer 'loaf' then Spam had been previously. Seems to contain a heavier speckling of interspersed fat. Oh well. The manufacturer is free to change their product and I am free to choose not to buy it.

This item is a favorite! Growing up, me and the family loved to split a can or two. And even today, I still enjoy this product as is on crackers, sliced bread with mayonnaise, chilled and sliced, or even fried until golden brown on toasted bread with mayonnaise and orcheese!

My fiance eats it I wouldn't even serve it to my dog
