I bought the 25 pound bag of sugar before Thanksgiving and started using in baking. I changed flour and sifted everything I used because the cakes had little bits of something in them. It wasn't until I had baked several cakes changing things each time to try to figure out the little bits that I checked the sugar. It has little white flat and round pieces of sugar that doesn't bake out in cakes. If you cook it making candy it cooks out but not if you are baking with the sugar.

I bake a lot of cakes for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries etc. I haven't experienced the white flakes and hope it was just a bad batch for the other reviewer. What I did notice is that it is about $10.00 cheaper than the grocery store to buy it this way. It cooks well in candy making and omst importantly white wedding cake frosting. Sometimes when buying sugar there will be foreign objects in it and it shows when spreadin the frosting but not this bag.
