Alarm was less than a year old and started going off at 1:30am for no reason. Checked my whole house, no other alarms were going off. After I reset it, I waited and then pressed the test button and it wouldn't test.

Hello. Normally we would say that if there are no obvious signs of a fire, the alarm should be cleaned before being reinstalled. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. To clean, after disconnecting the alarm and removing any removable battery: hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner). We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative. However, if the alarm won't test then that is a different issue entirely. Call us with the alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can get this resolved for you.

Gift for a new home

I purchased this as a gift for our grandchildrens new home which came with smoke alarms, but not carbon monoxide alarms. They were a bit concerned with having a fireplace. It was extremely easy to install.

Hello. If you have issues with our alarms again, please call us at 1-800-880-6788 before you replace them. We do stand behind our products and we are happy to troubleshoot and figure out what is going on and get an issue resolved. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. To clean the alarm, hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner). We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative. If you have interconnected alarms, the first step is finding the initiating unit, as that is the key. See the owner's manual. Some of your alarms may be in one the locations to avoid listed in the owner's manuals. This would especially include alarms being installed within 3 ft (.9m) of a forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. We recommend that alarms not be installed near vents, flues, chimneys, or fans. We recommend that alarms not be installed near doors or windows near areas directly exposed to the weather. We strongly recommend not to install these alarms in garages, attics, and crawl spaces as you will get temperatures, dust, insects, and chemicals that can cause nuisance alarms. If you still have the old alarm, call us with that alarm in hand and we will see what we can do.

Fine since Feb 1, 2015

I've had a couple up since February 1st, 2015. Both have been fine. It has a silence/test button in the middle. Sam's, it appears, has sold thousands of them. I'm buying a couple more today for relatives. --- I don't understand the complainers. Perhaps every product has a few duds, but mine have been fine so far.

Saved my life.

Bought this 2 1/2 years ago and installed it. Yesterday morning, about 5:30 am, I woke up to the carbon monoxide alarm. I called 911 and the fire department ventilated my house because I had soot in my gas heater (which apparently is rare) and my carbon monoxide levels were dangerously high. The guy from PSEG said this alarm saved my life.

Dont waste your money!

First you wont know if its going off for fire or carbon monoxide. Didn't even have mine for 3 months before it sounded a alarm for no reason and wouldn't quit! Took it outside to fresh air to make sure I didn't need to call the fire department and never shut up....broke it apart to stop it. Kiddie used to make quality products, not any more!

Hello. This alarm has the UL required 3 long beeps, a pause, 3 long beeps, a pause, over and over again for smoke. For carbon monoxide, it has 4 quick beeps, a pause, 4 quick beeps, a pause, over and over. It sounds like some dust or debris or an insect got into the smoke chamber of the alarm and the alarm mistook the debris for smoke. It is possible that vacuuming out the alarm around the back side edges of the alarm very thoroughly with the hose attachment of a vacuum cleaner or blowing out the alarm with a can of compressed air like keyboard cleaner around the back side edges very thoroughly might have flushed out any debris and restored the alarm to working. We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative. If you have issues in the future, please contact us with the product in hand at 1-800-880-6788 and we are happy to figure out what is going on and how we can get the issue resolved.

Doesn't work

I bought this 2 months ago. This morning it started going off for no reason at all. When we pushed the button to silence it didn't work. It just kept beeping so we tried moving it outside and it still kept beeping! The neighbors probably didn't like hearing the beep so after my boyfriend and I tried to shut it off I slammed it down hard on my deck and it finally starts beeping! I was telling him how it was brand new and expensive and begging him not to break it but I couldn't get it to stop either so now it's broken. What a peice of junk. I wouldn't trust it to actually work in case of a fire.

Kidde P3010K-CO

I purchased 2 of the earlier model and it worked like a charm for exactly 10 years. It responded to smoke and gave all the appropriate warnings when their was a need for a warning. The only problem I'm having with it right now is how to dispose of it ecologically as it is "sealed" and my local hazardous waste team is not sure whether they can take entire product.

Hi, thank you for your question! In most cases, smoke or CO alarms are not eligible for standard recycling. We recommend following the disposal instructions provided by the manufacturer or contacting your local waste management facility for guidance on how to safely dispose of electronic devices.

Lasted Full 10 Years!

I installed this in May of 2015, and it just now needs to be replaced at the very end of October 2025! I had it in my kitchen, and occasionally cooking smoke from the stove or oven would set it off (which is what it was intended to do!), but it worked great for over 10 years!
