Unfortunately the lead has broken in some of the new Ticonderoga pencils while I am sharpening them. I was told by two other purchasers that they also had the same problem while sharpening their Ticonderoga-brand pencils too. Maybe I just bought from a bad batch of the Ticonderoga Premium Wood Pencils...I don't know. I bought 2 packs of %232 Lead 24 count pencils.

Pencils are hard to find - if you do not shop at Walmart. This is THE brand to buy. They cut well in the sharpener. The others are a softer wood and when you sharpen it - the pencil just seems to disappear int he sharpener. You grind away a lot of the pencil. These sharpen well to a good point and last long.

When we started the journey with pencil sharpening we quickly realized that not all pencils are made well. Ticonderoga pencils have been my go to since all the others tend to fail. Chew ‘em, use ‘em, grind them to a nub! These lasted me without breaking all the way to the end of their normal life.

You can definitely get less costly pencils, but as a retired educator and mom/nana I can vouch that their points do not break nearly as easily as other brands. If you have ever had to deal with kids , or yourself, not being able to keep writing due to having to keep resharpening a pencil , these are worth every extra penny.
