When I get pencils I prefer Dixon Ticonderoga.  Tried and True.  They're good quality, and inexpensive.  This pack of 24 will probably last me a couple years.  They sharpen nice and write smoothly and leave a nice dark "mark" on the pages.  The erasers work good as well.

I've heard that teachers and schools like this brand of pencil because it doesn't disappear as quickly as most pencils when it comes to sharpening, and the lead is the most accurate %232 as far as test taking goes. 

So I put Ticonderoga to the test, since both schools that my son has attended required Ticonderoga exclusively. Well, wouldn't you know, both things are true! 

They are good, sturdy pencils that stand up to all that my rough and tumble 5th grader and his friends have put their Ticonderoga pencils through all these years! So even though they aren't the cheapest, I don't mind buying them, because I know I will get at least half of the 24 pencils back at the end of the school year, so we are never without a pencil in our household.

Ticonderoga pencils are hands-down the best pencils I’ve ever used and bought for my kids. They sharpen easily without breaking, write smoothly, and the erasers actually work without smudging or tearing the paper. The quality feels way better than cheaper brands, and they last a long time. Whether for preschoolers, for teachers, work, or for artists, these pencils are always reliable for all assignments— definitely worth the few extra cents.

Ticonderoga Pencils are %231

This may not be the cheapest brand, but you really can't beat the quality and durability of a Ticonderoga pencil. As a teacher and a parent, we don't use any other pencil brand. You can buy the cheaper brand, but you'll be going through pencils a lot faster.

These pencils are great quality and durable. For young children that are constantly writing and erasing, they hold up perfectly. The eraser actually erases and the tip doesn't break easily like some other brands.

AWESOME school pencils

These are the better pencils in the market  all teachers recommend for all my school kids and didn’t take long to sharpen keep in mind these are not pre sharpened

Ticonderoga pencils used to be the best - with a nice size circumference providing a reasonably comfortable grip, a good eraser and dark lead that writes clearly and fluidly. Unfortunately, all of these features seem to have gone downhill; the pencils are skinnier and less comfortable to hold; the lead is little scratchier, lighter and doesn't seem to last as long, requiring more frequent sharpening. The eraser, although sturdy, is less effective; I can still see the markings after erasing. It's really too bad. Ticonderoga used to be the gold standard for pencils. While these new ones are adequate, they are just not as good as they used to be.

There is a reason why teachers prefer these pencils. The lead doesn't break when you sharpen them, they don't dull as quickly, and the eraser actually erases. Don't believe me,? Try sharpening these to pencils and using them and comparing these pencils to ones that cost half the  price of these Ticanderoga pencils; You will see and feel the difference

Worth the extra cost

Ticondaroga pencils used to write much darker therefore visible on all my various papers but they seem to be off their game, maybe skimping on something. They just don't write as dark and at times you can barely see the writing at all.8

It's a pencil, and you charge WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much for regular pencils, UNSHARPENED I might add. I need a pencil with magical powers. 5-stars for a magic pencil. 1-star for expensiveboring pencils.....
