I just started using these and boy is the bleach smell strong, almost way to strong. BUT it also caused brown streaks in my toilet bowl (not fecal either). I am now reading that these stains are from hard water which our city is really bad. Anyway, I am reading DON'T us bleach as it will make the rust stains worse. Which is interesting as I lived here 17 yrs and never had visible rust stains. And just with the use of 1 Clorox tablet I now have very noticable rust stains.

It helps to keep the toilet clean and we use this often.  However, depending on the type of flapper in the tank, it may cause the rubber to "disintegrate" faster.  Clorox claims that if you use the toilet regularly, thereby not having the water in the tank as concentrated, it shouldn't cause damage; but, that's not what the plumber says.
