You may only need to adjust one section depending on which locking mechanism needs to be re-engaged. Hold the red handle in your right hand - grey in left Extend halfway (not fully) turn red handle away from you to lock Extend bottom grey part (closest to the base where the treads are) halfway Turn grey toward you, red away to lock.
