One jar will be enough for 28 oz bag of tortilla chips unless your a heavy dipper. The heat, though it says medium, is mild where you can feel the heat, but not too hot to make it unjoyable. It has flavor and doesn't just taste like straight tomato sauce. Not as flavorful as a picante salsa. I also use this salsa as a topper to burritos and enchiladas, adding my own spices since I don't like the overpowering taste of enchilada sauce. I also like that it comes in a large size and able to fit in the refrigerator.

While there is not a lot of difference between the salsa and the picante (available in a huge jug), the salsa is ... thicker. My husband put the picante through a strainer, but he's OK with the salsa, so ... hey! It's in jars that fit on the door! WOOT! Also, he was raised on Pace. I liked the Sam's salsa (with cilantro), but he doesn't like the cilantro taste. I guess I don't care enough to have 2 types of salsa.

The salsa arrived with salsa on the outside of the containers, which of course means at least one of the jars was open. I checked and, sure enough, I was able to tighten one of the lids. Not sure how long the thing was open but not willing to take a chance on botulism, or whatever.

I have used this as our standard salsa for years until I tried On The Border salsa. I preferred the cumin kick of On the Border to the Pace. When Sam's dropped On The Border I tried adding my own spices to the Pace to replicate On The Border and have now hit upon an even better taste. I keep getting the Pace and doctoring it with spices.

Its great if you don’t have time to make homemade.

We use this every morning on our breakfast tacos. Great flavor without being too hot.

We love the Pace Chunky Salsa. It reminds us of what we used to get back in New Mexico.
