Every Sunday my family and I make “Sunday sauce” from scratch, but today we tried this instead. When I tell you!!! Oh my gosh! The closest to my husband’s (actual) Italian family’s sauce that you can get in a jar that doesn’t break the bank! It was delicious and was plentiful enough to cover two boxes of spaghetti. I will 100% be getting this again.

I tasted it on its own before adding anything to it, and it wouldn’t be my first choice for a quick sauce. Flavor was lacking overall so I added a bunch of things to round the taste out. I also had to thicken it because it’s too thin for my liking. I think this sauce will do well as the base for a homemade pizza but I personally wanted more for a pasta sauce.

The spices were mild and not overpowering. There wasn’t anything about it that made it unique or distinct, but my toddler liked it and so did we. Went great with meatballs and rotini pasta.

The texture of the sauce is just right, not too thick or watery. There is a nice hint of garlic which can enhance any pasta dish or sub.
