I've usually had good experiences with Ragu, But most recently opened a jar of Ragu traditional old world style and came across what appeared to be fish skin in my sauce. It was very unappealing and distasteful to see (see pic). Not what I was expecting and would really encourage higher quality controls when sealing a product for consumer consumption.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband is Italian American (half, anyway) so if it’s not his Grandma’s sauce, it’s no good. But he admitted this stuff could be ok in a pinch. Add a little oregano, fresh basil, pepper, garlic, and a pinch of red pepper and you’re doing just fine. Cheaper and easier to open a jar and make some sprinkles rather than stir a hot stove all day!

In the past, I have avoided Ragu because it was seen as one of the cheaper less flavorful pasta sauces with not so healthy ingredients. Ragu has changed and the sauce has 40% of your daily vegetables, the ingredients are simple and leave out artificial flavors. It consist of tomato purée, soybean oil, salt, sugar, dried onions, dried garlic, spices, garlic powder, and onion powder. It’s as if I made this sauce myself and I have made homemade sauce before. Highly recommend.

I always season my food with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, & pepper just for some extra flavor. The sauce was the perfect consistency to thicken up and soak onto my pasta. I always struggling with opening these kinds of cans, but a little hit on the cap & it opens easily. I would recommend to try if you are looking for a simple meal.

The ragu traditional sauce used to me bing go to! I didn't like any other pasta sauces nearly as much, but now with the gross "new and improved" olive oil recipie.... it's not even tolerable anymore, there's an overwhelming amount of sugar, onions, and garlic now. Ragu why "fix" something when it's not even broken to begin with?!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The ingredients are pretty straight forward and the taste gives me the closest store bought sauce to homemade sauce. It has a smooth texture the packaging was secure (came intact and unbroken) I made spaghetti with this and it was great.

I opened a jar of Ragu Traditional sauce tonight to make dinner. Browned 4lbs of ground beef, made the pasta shells, added sauce to the meat... but as I went to move the jar of sauce I saw mold on the inside of the lid and the rim of the jar. Jar was sealed, stored in a pantry away from heat, and has an April 2021 expiration date. This cost me about $20 in ingredients and then we wound up having to order takeout for dinner. Very disappointed.

When I got married in 1973, my Mom's neighbor gave me her family recipe for Eggplant Parmesan. The recipe called specifically for Ragu Sauce. It became a favorite in my family. When my kids grew up and moved out on their own, they asked for the recipe so they could make it in their own homes. We all noticed the change in taste and texture of the sauce and do not like it. We no longer make our special Eggplant Parmesan because it just doesn't taste the same. Please bring back the old recipe!

This Ragu Old World Style Traditional Sauce reminds me of my family in old Italy, drinking wine and sharing stories of the "family business" and making offers no one can refuse.
