The cherry on the top is the new stay open design. I just fold the bottom part of the bag at the noted crease, start filling, and was thrilled as to how much easier it was to fill than a normal plastic storage bag. Be careful as you fill the bag initially with thin liquid and make sure you have enough liquid to get above the crease line as it wasn't as sturdy till I reached the crease line. I really love these bags and will be purchasing these again for sure!

I have been using these bags for decades without major problems, but the last several boxes have left me very frustrated and disappointed! Bags are failing and ripping about 1 inch below the zipper (see picture). I have lost the contents of the bag several times all over the floor.

Not only are they great for protecting food from freezer burn when freezing but they have so many other uses. Some of my favorite uses are to use them for marinating raw meat. I find they are great for travel. I keep them in my suitcase and always end up using them. They keep my toiletries and other small items together and protect my clothes in the event of toiletries leaking. The kids use them for their treasure collections. We end up with Ziploc gallon freezer bags with seashells or special rocks. Use your imagination and their usefulness is endless.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoyed trying out the new stay open bags from such a trusted company in plastic freezer bags. It has a line that helps you to know exactly where to fold the bags over to unlock the feature of the bag staying open while you place things inside. I find this feature most useful for placing meat inside to freeze, fruits, veggies or any liquids that need to be poured in like soup. There is still a section on the outside the bag to label what you have placed inside. It closes easily as a push zip close. Strong thick bags and a gallon size is perfect for adding a large quantity. Experienced no freezer burn on the food I froze inside of the bags. I would recommend it highly to friends and family who freeze different food items. I first tried it with chopped onions and peppers. I also used the bags for sliced fruit and meat products such as chicken breast.

I found that even though these bags have the stay open design, they did not stand up by themselves until food was put in them. The zip seal works well and the tab makes opening the bag easy.

I use this product to store Swedish meatballs. I get a giant pack of meatballs then separate them into these storage bags. Once I put the bags in the freezer, the bags will not open. I have to cut the top off. What good is that? And it is frustrating because it happens every time, no matter what I freeze in the bags.
