This is probably the best appliance I have ever owned! With only two in our family now, I can easily cook meals perfectly without having to use my big oven. I've definitely noticed a drop in my electric bill and everything cooks perfectly. Bravo Breville!

Love this oven!

Since all appliances have a life span, this is my second Breville Smart Oven. We had our first Breville for years. Once the convection mode started having trouble, we didn't hesitate to purchase another Breville Smart Oven. I love the size and capacity of the oven, and all of the various settings, including the convection mode. This oven really performs much like a large oven, but with the convenience of a smaller countertop appliance without always having to heat up our range oven. This really cuts down on preheating time, and it doesn't heat up my kitchen in the hot summer months. I use my Breville Smart Oven every single day. I can't imagine not having this type of appliance in my kitchen.

High quality product! Controls are simple to use and there are a lot of options. Display is large and easy to understand. Convection function is quiet and results in a nice crispy product. Toast browns evenly, countdown timer helpful for timing the rest of a meal.

Was good

Works for 4 years then the mother board goes haywire. Starts beeping and screaming in the middle of the night for no reason. Press the start button and all kinds of sounds and flashing of the display happens. Starts to hum for no reason. Etc etc If Breville had any faith in their product, why do they only give a one (1) year warranty?

Machine is great in the beginning but faulty soon after.

The machine has a finky Start/Cancel button – multiple attempts to find the correct angle and pressure. When successful, it sometimes turns on the other features (fan or defrost). Secondly, after 10 months of use, the convection fan gets very loud. The customer service rep was persistent to say that was normal, but the fan is noticeably louder from the beginning. Thirdly, the power cable is sensitive to restarting the whole oven. The worst part is that the repair costs are so high. It's really unfortunate that you're paying such a high premium and having everything fall apart after the warranty expires.

Great little oven....

I love this Breville counter top oven. Our first one lasted five years and probably could have continued longer, even without the convention fan. Our second somehow escaped longevity; 90 days into what should have been a long and warm relationship ended with another failing convection fan. I'm going for my third oven, hopefully a warranty replacement, and 'we'll see what happens' after that, as our fearless leader says. BTW I was unable to register this product online as I could not find it in the pull down menu.

The good the bad and the stupid

Pros: Overall very nice toaster oven. 1) Controls are easy to operate and understand. 2) Reaches set temperature very fast. 3) Oven temperatures are extremely accurate thanks to PID controller. 4) Electrical plug design with finger hole is brilliant. Cons: Given the price point of this oven, 1) I'm not happy with the material used to cover the quartz rods. After a few uses, they have dark tarnish spots on them and they won't come clean. (It isn't due to food drippings, I'm very careful). 2) I feel the convection fan is a little noisy. 3) I purchased the optional bamboo cutting board to protect the top of the oven. Burned into the edge of the cutting board it says “keep oven door closed when cooking” REALLY???? I'm insulted that Breville assumes we're idiots. Honestly, how many people out there think it's OK to leave the oven door open while cooking? Maybe they should add “oh, and don't forget to plug it in as well”.

great oven / toaster , but has a flaw

I love precision cooking and toasting this product offers. While I love the features this oven offers, I absolutely hate the audible signal this product produces. Beep level is not adjustable nor can be suppressed. It has direct affect on the domestic animals in the house and typically wakes people who are trying to sleep.

Beyond disappointed.

I just brought my smart oven pro and was taking out of box. Cord was unraveled but res of packaging seemed new. Plug had white sticky stuff all over it. Followed instructions plugged in and nothing. Plugged into other outlets and nothing. Looked inside. Oven had been used. It was rusty and looked liked food burned inside it. I never in my life bought a product from anyone and had this happen. I love Breville products but this was disgusting. Stores are closed now so will be returning first thing in the morning. Not sure I will want a replacement. Very very disappointed.

High price for poor quality.

This is our fourth Breville Smart Oven and this the fourth one that has failed. The first one lasted 5+ years. The most recent three have all died in under 2 years. My latest one in under 10 months. I just opened a warranty case but I am now without the one small appliance in our kitchen that our family uses daily while we wait for Breville support to figure out if they will honor their warranty. We absolutely love the product, the size, and how many functions it serves for cooking. However I'm more disappointed that our initial positive experience with Breville quality has been replaced so rapidly with poor quality that do not reflect the premium price. Based on my experience I can't recommend this to anyone - not anymore.
