The stand is heavy and holds the razor with no problem. It has to face one way. The razor itself did a decent job of cutting. I think the first Gillette razor I ever had was the Mach 3 and I have owned pretty much every one since then. Each has had its pluses and minuses, but I think that this one is pretty solid overall. It is very very soft, the razor was sharp and made the shaving really smooth. The angle of the head with the supporting design helps the razor head moves freely and in different angles. You can actually feel the exfoliation happening.
