It feels sturdy and reliable and like my DVD are safe inside the machine. I was bummed I didn't get the WIFI version like it said on the box, but thats fine. Low tech nights are always nice.

Takes up very little space and not bulky at all and provides great quality video and sound for watching both HD videos and better yet for me, great quality watching all my old home videos(about 40 discs) which I had converted myself from VHS to disc long ago. It's also great for streaming as well. It has HDMI and coax outputs and USB and Ethernet inputs, all one needs as long as you're not demanding Wi-Fi. Even then, if it's really needed later on, there's a simple adapter available now to work around that and have it work wirelessly.Very simple to set up and use. You can always count on a decent value for the price with all Sony products and this player is no different.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed to get a blu-ray player because my old one was acting up. First off, I love the size. It is nice and compact. My old one was huge. It was easy to set up. My son actually set it up for me and thought it was super easy. I love the remote is small too, but has all the functions you need on it. Even buttons for Netflix. I love that it is wired so that you can stream right from this to get more content. I also like that you can show things from the USB option. That is neat to get pictures, etc. from there. Overall, I think it is a nice, very compact player that should have all the functions you need. I think it was worth it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Sony BDP-S1700 Blu-Ray Disc Player is just what we needed to play our DVDs. Yes, you do need an ethernet cable, and we were aware of that when we got it. The sound and picture quality is good, and it is easy to use. The remote is rather small - that might be a negative to some people but I think it is a good thing. The unit itself is sleek and compact - definitely a good thing. Solid unit that does what I need it to do.

It really combines modern and old times and is good for watching family movies new and old. This is great because it works for regular DVD's in addition to blue ray and the quality can't be beat. I love how easy it was to set up and am so happy to have a DVD player again to play all the classic movies from my childhood.

You do need a LAN cable to use with your modem/router. I really loved that this has the capability to stream Netflix, Hulu etc. Size is perfect as well, you could even use this on your soundbar or set with your cable box. This player could also be good if you do not want your small children using a game console, you can pop in the Blu-ray or sign into one of your streaming services. Extremely happy with this little Sony blu-ray disc player.

It has full HD picture quality that makes watching any movie or show nice and clear. It also has the ability to connect with the HDMI cable, it has the USB input and a Coaxial for output. With this player, you will want the Wired Ethernet connection and it comes with simple instructions for set up. It is very nicely made with a sleek design that does not take up much space. This Sony Blu-ray Disc/DVD player starts quickly and loads disks fast so you don't have to wait forever which is nice because my children get impatient if it takes a long time to load. The remote control has Netflix on it and you can even watch youtube just by using the remote control so we can find something for our whole family to enjoy together. I would recommend trying this Blu-Ray/DVD Player if you are looking for a new one and I think it is a quality product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great blu-ray player of all you want is it for movie playing features. The picture is great, it is very easy to setup, load time was very quick and it is very responsive to the remote with no lag time. If you want it for the smart features (Netflix, Hulu, etc) be advised that it requires to be wired directly to your router. It does not have WiFi capabilities, which I unfortunately overlooked when I got it, so make sure it will be used close to your router in order to wire it. The TV I am using this blu-ray player on is upstairs while my router is downstairs, so unfortunately I am not able to use these features so I cannot comment on them. Excellent blu-ray player but disappointing that it does not have WiFi capabilities.
