[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The quality was clearer than a gaming system we have and use to play dvd/blu-ray discs.  The set up was easy, although there was a lot of settings in the menu to choose from during the set up.  It also did not come with an ethernet cable which took a bit of time to locate one.  I was not a fan of the size and shape of the remote.  It felt big in the palm of my hand and only had one streaming service you could easily access on the remote. I liked the hidden door of how it opens to insert the disk.  The face of the player dropped down and then the tray slid out.  It is an ideal device for a non-smart television because of the access to streaming platforms as well as the blu-ray capabilities. However, if you have a smart television it is just a glorified blu-ray dvd player in the end.

I bought this blueray/dvd and it has netflix, how I can I say it? Okay when you hook up your HDMI cord to your tv an set it up from the sony remote, everything comes in some pretty clear and if you have Prime then you will see and all the other apps on your tv. I can watch all my comedies shows in my bedroom now. I am so happy with this product. My daughter was going to buy one but she decided to get her a firetv stick. The product hooks by wireless services in your home. I entered my Suddenlink wireless password in and boom there it is on my tv so pretty and clear.

First off I will say the machine has a great low profile look about it taking up very minimal room. Second it was a breeze to set up and sync to TV which I love. And of course the biggest items are picture and sound both were outstanding. I have not seen a brighter picture on my TV. The sound was crystal clear and this says alot too since I am a retired disable vet with hearing aids. I actually enjoyed a movie. This player is a must have in home entertainment.

I purchased this player seven days ago and I have been unable to view a DVDs yet. Tried today to get the DVD out of the player but the "door" will not open! I will now contact custom service. I would have thought that I would have purchased a quality product from SONY!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Sony BDPS 1700 wired Blu Ray player is a solid well built Disc player. I found it to be very reliable and easy to use. My son has used this model for over four years and can attest to its ruggedness, as he routinely moves it between his camper and house and has a three year old son as well. The unit is very easy to set up, with all the conections easily accessible in the rear. The remote control is well laid out and works really well with their Sony TV. I love having the subtitle button right on the remote. The only complaint I can muster is that this is a "wired" Blue Ray player and sometimes the software / processor can be a little slow in downloading and or streaming or loading disc. Although all the essential functions are readily available on the remote, There is one feature which would improve user friendliness; and that would be the addition of a posistion counter on the player so that when you hit pause or use the rewind feature, you know where you are on the disc. However, This player works well and is a solid blue ray player

I love how easy this player was to hook up to my tv and start watching my favorite blu-ray movies. The design is very up-to-date and blends in well with my electronic setup. Provides a beautiful picture quality throughout every use. Available at a great value compared to other blu-ray players. I would definitely recommend this product.

Finally getting on board the Blu-ray train. Did it for the Blu-ray Star Wars trilogy! Such a shame that more titles don't use the original Hi-def master, making precious few films actually have improved resolution over DVD. But those that do... Wow (Also all the extra content is great!)

Very clear, easy to use, not bulky, nice and thin, looks great next to my television. I would recommend the Sony Blu-Ray Player to anyone who likes high quality and great feature.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did not own a Blu-ray disc player so I was excited to try out the Sony Blu-ray Disc Player. I like how small this Blu-ray disc player as it is 9 1/8 in. X 7 3/4 in. X 1 9/16 in.. I first tried out a Blu-ray disc and it worked great and was easy to use. Then since one of the DVDs we had didn't work in our current set up, I thought I'd try it in this Blu-ray disc player and it worked! So I was very happy about this. The operating instructions are easy to read and it shows you that it can also play CDs too and a lot of different types of files (video, music, and photo) and ways it can play (disc, USB device, and via a network). Some how this Blu-ray disc player can access Netflix but since we don't use that service I am unsure how that feature works. The player itself it great and would of received five stars except this model (BDP-S1700) does not come with a High Speed HDMI Cable. Luckily, we managed to have an extra one to connect it to our TV. Otherwise, it would not have worked. I look forward to now be able to view Blu-ray discs with the Sony Blu-ray Disc Player.

this was a replacement for another sony blu ray player that was also malfunctioning and eventually broke. after only about two uses of this replacement and trying a third time it is not working. I don't think I even used the dvd feature itself. poor quality. hope the sony tv I just purchased wont go through this as well
