Had one for many years that finally gave out, it didn't even have place for HDMI, this one does, plus there is now open close button on remote. Nice and slim unit

I bought this player to use in a motor home. It plays beautifully with a crystal clear picture all while not taking up much space. And it has a great price.

This is the second Sony DVP-SR510H HDMI I have bought for my house. I had one in the living room for about a year. This one i purchased for a bedroom. The player is easy to use and has played everything I have tried so far. Very clear picture.

I was able to set up and use this DVD player very fast. First with the Standard plugs that come with it. Then with the HDMI cable ( bought separately) and it also works just fine. Easy to use it that is what you are looking for with decent quality then this DVD Player is a good choice.

Player gives message that Dvd can`t be played because of regional code. Tried to find online how to unlock this code, but nothing helped. So, if you want to look your personal DVD`s or pictures, it will be impossible. In this case I don`t see any reason to keep this at home.

NOTE: The weight that is shown on Sony's description seems very off. They show it as 18 pounds but it is nowhere near that - maybe 3 pounds, if that. . Our old portable dvd player (with a screen) died after many years of service. We get dvd's from N...x so we needed to replace the player fairly quickly. Our requirements were pretty simple - connect using AV cables (red, white, yellow) to our really old small Sharp Aquos, didn't have to be BluRay since we use standard dvd's, not too expensive, HAD TO READ DOLBY discs and works easily. At first we thought we needed to get a player with a screen, but after consideration realized we actually didn't need that feature since we only watch at home. I did a lot of research and the choices were somewhat limited. Still, there were enough to make choosing one a bit difficult. Finally we opted for this one. It came yesterday - ironically the same day we got our new N...x dvd. Opened the box, took the player out and connected it 1-2-3 to the tv using the av cable supplied and the plug (which is permanently attached to the player) into the wall outlet Put the new disc into the player, batteries (included) into the remote, set the input on my tv and powered it on. There was a brief setup guide and we were ready to watch. I must say just from this one movie - this little player is great. Everything worked smoothly and I really got a kick from the remote opening and closing the eject at a touch. I did have to fiddle with the aspect ratio on the tv which took 3 seconds. Pausing and restarting is easy - everything was easy. The size of the player is pretty small which for me is good because of limited counter space (we have the tv in the kitchen) The only drawback in my case is that there is actually no room for the player to stay on the counter all the time, so after use I have to unplug it and move it to another area. This is just my problem and isn't a negative about the player in any way. It would have been great if there was a case included but I suspect that most people are able to connect it to the tv and leave it. So the bottom line, after this one use, is that we really like this player and we're very happy with our choice. Time will tell whether we feel the same at a later date. But I'm hopeful that we will.

I bought this device yesterday, and my husband installed it. When we went to use it, the dvd tray was stuck and would not open. We went through the entire manual to try to figure out what the problem might be, and found no help. When I googled, it turns out that this is a common problem connected to the child lock system. I found specific instructions for this problem, and attempted to follow them. However, it turns out that the instructions, though they are presented as specific to this model, bear no relationship to the choices available on the device menu/display. None of the remedies suggested on the website has the slightest effect on the problem. Perhaps the DVD player would be a good one of it worked, but the only remedy I see here (since the Sony support phone number I called suggested visiting the web site I had already visited to no avail and then cut me off) is to return this useless object to the place of purchase. What a waste of time.

I usually give Walmart products very good reviews, but this Sony DVD Player stopped working after 2 years. I bought this DVD player for a great price, but shouldn't expect too much. I guess the people that gave it good reviews are those that purchased it within months of writing their reviews. The DVD player also pauses when playing new DVDs. I guess I will be purchasing a more expensive DVD player with good reviews.

Purchased this player as our combo player VCR/DVD player wasn't working...the DVD part that is. So far so good as this player gets used EVERY day for workout DVDs! I did look at the reviews and that is what assisted me in narrowing down to this model. It's slim enough to sit in the rack where the old unit still sits just in case we want to watch an old VHS tape. We will have to switch out the cords from the DVD player to the combo unit on those RARE occasions, but that is totally fine with me.

I just bought this. So far it's a slight improvement over my old current working dvd player. It definitely doesn't play any bluray dvds, whatsoever. Overpriced worthless useless piece of garbage. My old dvd player worked just fine. I wanted a bluray dvd player that played Bluray dvds, not a regular overpriced dvd player. This was definitely without a doubt a mistake to buy. Lastly don't trust any reviews claiming this thing can play bluray dvds because it definitely cannot and I bought this thing for that very purpose. Well this was $40ish down the crapper. Thanks for descriptive advertising and essentially nothing Walmart.
