Westinghouse Beast Machine

Purchased online and picked up in the store. Unboxed it, assembled it, connected the battery, and filled with oil. Hooked up propane at first to test it. Wanted to make sure the pull start worked, and after 2-3 initial pulls, it fired right up! Next, I filled it with ethanol free gas, used the push button start, and it fired right up. Tested it with the remote's on/off and it worked like a charm. Let it run for about 30 minutes at idle with no load, then added a small <1kw load for another 30 minutes. Had no issues. Build quality seems SOLID and heavy duty. Hopefully when I need it it will fire up the same and take care of my needs! During the last hurricane a friend let me borrow a small Westinghouse inverter 2,500w I believe and I was impressed how well it worked, how quiet it was, and how little fuel it used to power my outdoor refrigerator and a window AC unit. Figured i'd upgrade with this one, which has 4x the power as I plan to get an interlock kit to plug directly into my home. Initial impression is quite positive!

iGen11000TFc - Initial Thoughts

Just assembled the Generator. Very impressed by the quality of the unit so far. The shipping packaging was top notch. I appreciate that the unit came with an LPG hose but would have really liked for it to also include a Natural Gas hose. Assembly was very straight forward. Other reviews have mentioned that the oil filler funnel's threads are to small for the generator's opening. I agree. But, I just made sure the rubber washer on the supplied funnel was snug over the opening and kept pressure on it while I added oil and had no problems. I will be staring unit up on propane shortly and have inquiries out for Natural Gas set-up. Stay tuned.

Bought but not yet started.

I just took possession of this generator and read through the instructions. It looks well built and able to meet my emergency power needs. Unfortunately I need to have a transfer switch and propane connection installed to be able to start it up. Will update this review once installed and tested.

Well made and quiet

Bought it yesterday and had no issues assembling it this morning. I appreciated that the necessary tools were included and the instructions were clear. I'm running it at 25% load on propane to break it in, and will vary the load during the first 5 hours as recommended. Right now I'm using a 20-pound propane tank but will later run it off my bulk propane tank. It is quiet relative to the power output though I still plan to use a sound box to reduce the noise further. I have an off-grid cabin that uses a modest photovoltaic system to provide electric power; this generator will serve as a Level 2 electric car charger for trips when we arrive in our all-electric vehicle. So far I am very pleased with this purchase and expect that it will reliably provide the power I need. Once I have a connection to my bulk propane tank the cost to charge my car will be less than the cost to use commercial Level 3 charging stations.

Easy Setup - Seamlessly handled 3000 sq ft home

I was looking for a portable generator to use for whole home backup that could run on propane and gasoline. This generator handled AC units, multiple fridges, lights, TVs, internet service and stayed mostly under 5Kw operations often as low as 1kw when AC was not running. I was concerned whether it could handle AC units kicking on. Handled it with ease. Ran for 5 hours on a single 20# propane tank. Ready for hurricane season with a 100# propane tank and some gasoline!

Easy to use with great features!

I purchased this inverter generator earlier this month in preparation for power outages during hurricane season. I spent several weeks researching different models before deciding on the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc. I feel that at this price point, there isn't a better inverter generator on the market with this level of power and features. So far I have been very pleased with how easy the setup was. In spite of it's size, this generator was pretty easy to move around once the wheels and pull handle are installed.

So Far So Good

After an extensive search I chose the Westinghouse 11000 tri-fuel for its power options, build quality, and overall positive reviews. I have not powered it on out used it at time of this review and rating 4 starts only due to missing parts (front leveling feet) but I look forward to hours of use on the coffee truck, and emergency home use for power outages.

So far so good

I'm on hour 10 of break-in, so I've only run it up to 2,300 watts. Seems solid so far. The only issue is that the starter stays engaged around 5 seconds after the engine turns over. It's not enough of an issue for me to deal with any sort of a claim, but it's an issue nonetheless.

Excellent generator and a great value in this size

Pro's: Well built, easy on/off no-tool access panels, starts on 1st try every time, easy assembly, dual fuel is a big plus, oil changes can actually be done without spilling a single drop due to the oil drain tube, air filter is easy to access and the included remote on/off fob is a nice touch. Con's: only minor, for as heavy as this unit is I would have liked a sturdier foldable handle and with the power this unit produces (I wish all manufacturers would incorporate) a bonded/unbonded toggle switch for easy selection between extension cord usage and whole home transfer switch hook up would be useful.

Good machine

Seems like solid build. Works as expected. One little thing about recoil start. Too much resistance. So, I would like to say recoil start is only for real emergency start, when the battery dead. I realized that happens because the engine is pretty powerful and has relatively big displacement. So consider this and keep the battery charged by included charger. I already have 3.5 kwt generator, it was alright for short outages, i could keep running my fridge, boiler and heat, watch tv. However it was not powerful enough for AC and stove range. This unit produces 9 kwt. I can use it for stove and AC. My old central AC consumes a lot of starting amps and generator switches of power because of overload, but its not a big issue for me. I'm planning to install a new mini split invertor ac. Also, i can install a soft start for my old one. Over all i'm happy of purchase.
