Free upgrade

I haven't tried this generator yet. I ordered a duel-fuel but Westinghouse sent me free upgraded tri-fuel model which was a pleasant and grateful surprise. I want to try this model which has a THD of < 5%. My last was >5% and my freezers motor would get the cabinet extremely hot and I would have to unplug them after a short run. I was told this was from the high THD. Time will tell as I live in an area with power outages with summer thunderstorms and hurricanes, I 'm sure it won't be long before it's put to use I'm hopeing for many yrs of service, as my friends have similar models with no problems.

Great Generator

Last 2 homes, we installed a 20kW whole home only to have less than a day of actual outages. So we went "portable" this time and saved a ton of money. In a few short months we have 16 hours of outage coverage and it has worked great. Super easy to connect up, starts every time, handles the air, and super clean power. UPS's protecting electronics have no complaints.

Plenty of Power

My new WGEN11500TFC (upgraded from the DFC I ordered - nice surprise) has plenty of power on gasoline running my entire house via the 50amp outlet wired direct to the main panel (with 15' of 6 AWG wire). Runs my R-22 2.5 ton A/C (no soft start), electric water heater, well pump and pressure booster pump, two freezers and a refrigerator, plus lights and other misc items. I won't run the electric water heater when the A/C is on to keep the load down, but it's nice to know the WGen11500TFC can handle it if needed. I did shut off the biggest loads before starting the A/C as the inrush current on the A/C is right at 60-62 amps, but once the A/C is running, I can add in the other loads and everything runs fine until the A/C cycles off. As long as I'm not drawing more than 8 amps or so, the A/C will start again with no issues, which honestly surprises me. I think the capacity of the WGEN is probably a little under stated. I may still install a soft start on the A/C but so far, it hasn't been necessary. Even with the A/C running and both freezers, refrigerator, lights, TV, etc., I'm only at about 5000 watts, which is still less than 1/2 the rated capacity of the WGEN11500TFC, so plenty of headroom left for the well pump and other random things, but I do try to keep total draw to a minimum. It's loud, but not as loud as my 22 year old Troy Built 7500/13000 Briggs unit. I'm out in the country so noise isn't really an issue anyway. From 23' away at half load, I am getting right at 75db, which is pretty close to the Westinghouse factory claim. Can't speak to longevity yet but we do have random power outages and even lost power for a few days a couple years ago so I'm hoping to get many years of sporadic use out of the WGEN11500TFC. I did a bit of overkill on the break in, changing the conventional 10W30 oil four times during the first five hours under varying loads up to half load, and had very minimal to no sparkles in the oil after the second oil change. It's now fully broken in, last two oil changes were completely clear, and I'm now running 5W30 full synthetic. Time will tell but so far so good! No regrets.

Runs my whole house

I bought this generator a couple weeks ago and have already tested it out with my generator inlet for my home. I have a 3600 sq ft home (finished basement included in footage) and it ran my whole home including the A/C. It was easy to start and I could hardly hear anything outside running. I did make sure to have it at least 25 ft away from the home, possibly more. Very satisified.

Will run my entire 2,200sqft house

I have had to use this generator for about 28 hours now and it has just now started to leak oil from the carburetor, the oil level is not over full, also I think it needs an oil filter so you can get more than 25 hours of run time because as of now the service is every 25-50 hours which means you will change the oil every couple days.

Easy to set up and get working.

So far so good. Arrived and dropped straight into my garage. Easy install of wheels and stabilizer feet, came new with right amount of oil to fill before use. Hooked right up to house gas line and started right up so far no issues.

High expectations

Just got this up and running! Replacing a manual start generator and my old bones much prefer pushing a button! Started right up and am expecting it to meet our needs when the time comes. Definitely not the quietest, though.

Great Features!

I am very happy to have bought this generator. We have our electrician coming out next week to install the inlet box and I am so excited to have it to use next time our electricity goes off, which seems to be often lately.

WGEN11500 5% less than THD

A great product and I expect it to perform as my last unit WGEN9500DFC. This is an upgrade with the lower THD, this expands the usage of the generator.

Has all the features anyone would need

I have less than 1 hour run time on the generator I bought this for power backup and it worked as planned using a Westinghouse Smart Switch. No issues. It starts and runs fine.
