Great ice maker! Easily maintained, easy installation, however cleaning process is long for the first use. Not noisy quietly makes ice in the background. Good size like the front drawer for ice. Holds a decent amount of Ice. Like the automatic feature of producing ice as it is used. Great product

We love our new GE Profile 2 Opal Ice Maker. It makes ice super fast and the ice is great in drinks. I highly recommend using reverse osmosis (RO) or distilled water in the machine to reduce maintenance (which it requires a lot of), and scale build-up. The only real issue I have with the machine is it sometimes gets stuck saying it is out of water, even when the tank is full. I suspect it had some gunk in the inner workings even from the factory. But after finding some tips on this online and also blowing hard on the tube from the side tank, it seems to be fine. Other than that, the machine makes more noise than I would like. Not too bad though.

This ice maker is the best! We had a smaller counter ice maker before this one. It was so small and only held about one large ice tea cup worth of ice. This ice maker is amazing. I love love love the crunchy ice and it makes enough ice for several large ice teas (a must in my family)

I purchased a GAVI ice/nugget machine because it was cheaper and had high reviews, I was sadly disappointed with the unbearable noise it made while making ice after a week. The GE Nugget Ice Machine did not make any obnoxious noise for the past several months although we have hard water. The amount of ice in less time is suitable for our family needs, especially in hot climates. Thanks GE Profile for not compromising your quality.

I purchased this Opal after receiving an older gen model for my birthday and having nothing but problems with it. Immediately I could tell that the GE product team made significant efforts to address customer pain points. It's quieter, doesn't take in as much dust on the vents, and the app tells you when your machine needs to be descaled. You don't have to listen to the awful screeching and try and diagnose the issue on YouTube. I've come to realize my water is still hard due to the salt we use in our softening system and Opal will need to be descaled every few weeks. But at least now I know!

First off the GE Opal 2.0 Ice Maker itself is fantastic with the type of and production of ice that it makes. SONIC ICE. There is no question about it when it comes to this. It is second to none. Its fast, quiet (slight hum) and holds & keeps ice available with having to continuously run the machine. FLAWS: Cleaning it can be a large pain in the butt depending more on the placement in your situation. If you have to move it to a sink, its not a light weight machine, so keep that in mind. The wifi app allows very basic integration with Alexa and Google Assistant. Like turn on and turn off the machine and light. That's it. You can not ask them what is the water level or if it's time to add water. They have no clue. There are no PUSH NOTIFICATIONS to your phone like every other app out there in the world for Smart Appliances or Lights. Example you go to work and want to turn on you machine on the drive home (something happened while you were away and water in the system. You will not know until you arrive home) It would be great to a Push Notification stating that if you use your Voice Assistant to turn it on. The only way to know is if you go into the app which defeats Voice App integration in the first place. I'm not sure how dumb a company has to be or how important this functionality is when it comes to using your voice to operate a machine you paid $$$$ because of getting such features and not fully delivering on it, but for me, I feel cheated at this price point. Last Flaw: it does have a scheduler, again no Push Notification if you run out of water, that is easy to program. But there is not a scheduler for the built-in light feature. This is controlled by the app and manual only. WHY? With the average ice makers of this size are a lot less expensive, why am I paying so much more, without getting so much more features I assumed would be present at this price point? Typos may or may not present

We absolutely love the ice and this machine except that maintenance is not exactly easy. And as a result, the machine is very heavy when having to move it to a place for emptying the water after running the cleaning cycle. I wish that this machine handled hard water better also. We had the 1.0 version of this for less than a year and it stopped making ice completely.

This was on my wish list for years and I was totally surprised to open this Christmas! It is amazing and lives up to the hype. Just like Sonic and Chick-fil-a ice only at home and on demand. Excellent design. Does add white noise to my kitchen but that's ok with me, some might think it's loud for a small appliance.

Makes great ice when it works! Only have had it for a couple of months and it is already giving us trouble. We clean it regularly, but about once a week it indicates that it needs water, even though the machine and side tank are both full of water. End up draining it and using a syringe in the drain hole, pushing the syringe in and out several times and then running the cleaning cycle again. Even though it had been cleaned just a few days before.

Love this machine so much! Ice is soft but crunchy and it makes a bunch. What a great way to help us stay hydrated. Makes everything taste better. Really! The only thing that I wish could be fixed is the drip from the ice bin when you open it. It drips on the tray provided and is an easy wipe up, but it seems like there should be an easy fix.
