This was given to me as a Christmas present. While I always thought it would be nice to have a pellet ice maker, I never thought I really needed one…until now!!! The set up is super simple, and the ice is amazing. I repair appliances for a living, and a have to say that i have always hated servicing undercounter icemaker. They are a pain to maintain, and customers rarely take care of them. The Opal 2.0 is easy to maintain, and it makes ice so quickly. Love it!!!

This is a great machines. Makes ice quickly, easy to setup and prep. It is a bit heavy, so just realize they when first setting up donuts placed properly to minimize having to move it. The ice is amazing! Love the fact that it recycles the melted ice/water. The ice does not melt quickly and is easily chewable too, so not hard ice. Very efficient. Love the scheduling ability to run when we sleep, or not at meal times when we’re near it. It’s not really that noisy, but it’s constant white noise when it runs. Certainly would recommend this unit without hesitation to anyone looking for a quality unit.

I had a cheap counter top ice maker to satisfy my ice chewing habit. It died last night so I committed to this investment this morning. Easy to set up, clean for first time use, and has been making ice ever since. So far so good! Having it continuously making ice is great! My previous model couldn't keep up. I was often waiting. Pretty quiet too. Hoping for a long life with this one!

I love my new opal 2.0. I had the previous version which did stop working about a year and a half after I got it, but luckily I had the full replacement insurance which covered most of the cost of the opal 2.0. I would say it is always worth it to get the extra insurance on these as no matter how well you treat them, they are only made to last about a year of continuous use. Using only distilled water will extend the life as long as possible but in the end they all stop working in my experience, though the opal did last the longest of any model I ever had. I have had Oster, Newaire, Mueller, and Solon, plus a few names I never heard of from china and the opal worked longer than all of them. It also has a great design and a gallon side tank so requires less refilling than most other countertop machines.

I purchased the GE Profile Nugget Ice Maker about a month ago & all I can say is we all love the chewable crunchy ice….. it makes all your drinks extra special …. also it came in very handle during the time some family members were experiencing sickness … they weren’t able to eat food but the ice was something they really enjoyed & helped to relieve some of their symptoms …. Thanks for making such a fine product accessible to everyday families!

Noisy, obnoxious, high maintenance appliance. Maybe got one year of use when it finally blew up. Bad compressor or something. Our unit did not allow for waterl connection like fridge ice maker. If water was less than half full, the noises began but ultimately went full time disturbing.

We LOVE our new GE Opal 2.0 Ice Maker!! It works as advertised and produces “the good ice”! It is wonderful as a portable i e maker, kinda wish there was an option to run a water line to it. But well worth the money! Still does “drip” and where we have it installed - we can’t use the drip tray. But not a huge deal for us.

Amazing machine! Beautiful appearance. Matches all my other GE profile appliances. Ice is perfect for drinks and crunching! I used to buy Sonic ice but now i have it at home. Always fresh! My entire family enjoys the ice too. You will not be disappointed and yes. It’s worth the money.

I love that this ice maker is really fast at producing ice. I couldn’t believe that just 20 minutes after filling the water tank we had ice. The only down side I’ve found is that the ice bucket collected condensation and dripped when opened. I think if it was better insulated this wouldn’t be such a problem. I needed to turn it off and empty when not using the ice regularly.

Love the ice maker. I opt to make ice a couple times a week and store it in an ice bucket in the freezer instead of keeping the ice maker on all the time. It doesn’t keep it cold necessarily so what happens is it makes ice and fills up the bucket of the ice maker and then it does keep it cold for a little while but then, as the ice melts, the water goes back into the Reservoir and is used to refresh the ice made by the machine.
