I don't know how much of a review I can give since my only recollection of anything that resembled Chomps was watching Macho Man Randy Savage back in the day. As that deep, raspy voice of a brawn man shouted, “need a little excitement,” something in me really did snap.
I thought to myself, this is the future. But I was quickly let down, the moment my lips touched that brown, meaty stick it was greasy as hell. It’s too easy to be greasy and also make something filled with a bunch of crap like textured soy powder. Like, what is that and what’s it doing in beef?
Anyway, it’s 2020 and food should be a lifestyle choice with amazing ingredients such as, I don’t know, actual beef. That’s one of the reasons I chose Chomps. I wanted the sensation of knowing what a true beef flavor was like. I wanted my tastebuds to tickle with spice and meat.
The flavors:
Original, the flavor was pretty much similar to other meat sticks I’ve had in the past. I guess I was expecting a different taste from the grass fed beef and different spices used but I was okay with that. I’m a simple guy so this was just fine.
Jalapeño, I was expecting a blast of a spicy hot flavor but in my opinion it was mild that mimicked a cooler type of pepper. Like an Ancho Poblano.
Cranberry Habanero, I was hit with the sweet taste of cranberry right away. Maybe it was just me but I didn’t get the full spectrum of the cranberry flavor. After that the spice kicked in which, it being a habanero flavor, wasn’t too spicy but I liked that.
Italian Style, like biting down on an authentic, savory pepperoni pizza. Not too spice heavy but just enough to feel earthy and piney.
Jalapeno Turkey, much more pepper power than the beef. The turkey meat must have been like, “okay jalapeño, you take the flavor on this one and I’ll hang
back.”
Sea Salt, to be honest that was just like the original beef flavor. I didn’t get much of the sea salt effect. The pale color of the stick looked cool though.
Original Turkey, you’d probably have to be a turkey meat lover to enjoy this and I did. And the obvious thing was that this was lower in fat. That’s great because I’m watching my figure.
Salt & Pepper Venison, I was looking forward to the acorn, sage tasting beef but was slightly disappointed. But it’s all good, I still love you Chomps.
“Where you go there you are. But wherever you are make sure you have a Chomps.”
