The “try me” button will only light up the base dimly for both colors. I bought the white one in the store and the black one online - the black one didn't have that button and I had to put the actual batteries in to see if it worked and then the whole thing lit up purple! So then I unpackaged the white one and put its batteries in and it lit up the whole thing instead of just the flickering light in the base - it's beautiful!! Well worth it and these phantoms look awesome!

Great halloween decoration

Looks great for an affordable price.

I absolutely love this thing! Grandin Road sells a very similar one for around $100, so finding this for about $30 felt like a steal. It looks great and gives off such a cozy glow. I love that you can choose between the flickering flame effect or a steady light, depending on the look you're going for. My only complaint is that I wish it was made from a sturdier material. It doesn't feel as high-end as the more expensive versions, but honestly, for the price, I can't complain too much. I liked it so much that I'm already ordering the white one too!

Looks very cool! We bought the white and dark phantom.. and the white one has a flicker similar to a candle, bright but not too bright, and somewhat steady. The dark phantom is different, it has an on and off flicker. We really preferred the way the white phantom was lit compared to the dark phantom. I love the purple of the dark phantom and if the light was more steady we would likely have kept both.

Great ghoul with lights, battery powered and timer. Looks great at night. Just reduced. Nice addition to my collection

I ordered the dark grey Phantom when it first launched and decided to put it out today since Halloween is approaching. When I turned it on the skull eyes lit up brightly, but the body was very dim, then suddenly it didn't glow at all. I removed the batteries and reinstalled them, but the body will not glow purple as shown. It's seems to be defective.

He only worked for one day.. We bought him on Friday and displayed him yesterday. The only thing that turns on now is his skull. I will be exchanging him today.

I went through 3 of these. The first one only lit at the base (with the batteries in), so I returned it. The second one didn't light up at all with the batteries in (even though it worked with the "try me" button, so I returned it. The third one lights up the whole way, but it's a flashing light that is a little distracting. I just wanted one that lit up the whole way and stayed that way. No quality control at all.

Most likely returning. The grey phantom I received only has purple lights in the very base. The face and mid section of the phantom doesn't light up at all.
