The top compartment comes in clutch so your fruits or other snacks don't get squished and there is a lot of room for Tupperware's inside and drinks as well. The carry on strap is ideal to carry it over your shoulder or side shoulder, I bought a shoulder pad to soften it around my shoulder area.
