I hope that they are attracted to light because this one is really bright so I plan on plugging it in every night. Also, the inserts are very sticky so I don't think they will be able to get off once they get stuck. I only wish there was a way to put an insert in the front as well.

All you have to do is plug it in. Unfortunately, it's too cold right now so I have not been able to put it to good use yet. However, I do see how this product can make it very attractive for bugs as it has a glowing blue light that they will most certainly be drawn to. The main downside I have with this product is you need to buy refills after a certain amount of time. However, the refills do seem more affordable as they last a while compared to most household bug products.
