Just take it out of the package, insert the refill and plug it into an empty outlet. What I like most is that it has no odor. I also like the soft blue light it gives off. I use it as a nightlight. If you need to buy refills, they are reasonably priced. I recommend them.

I have multiple pets at home and a disabled gentlemen that gets into everything like a toddler, so I feel not confident using safer products. These bug light traps are my absolute favorite though. We are in an RV and no matter how we position the "stinky slinky" we still get drain flies. Which is an awful mix in a cat household as they are very attracted to litterboxes and it seems to create a viscous cycle. With these traps I can plug them in near the bathroom/kitchen sinks and the litter boxes. They are attractive looking with no odor and a nice soft glow that discreetly disguises them as a night light, while simultaneously attracting the drain flies and occasional mosquito. They are out of the way of the kitties too. If I get a bad infestation, I put one of these on sight, even if it means running an extension cord, and the problem is typically resolved in a couple hours with no intrusive chemicals spayed in our tiny living space. I love this bug trap!

I needed a mosquito killer in my boys room and I didn't want to use products with chemicals on them, I tried all home remedies and hacks you can find out online! Nothing worked. I heard about light traps and I was looking for one, then I got the opportunity to try stem flying insects light trap! The product is easy to use, you literally take it from the package, insert the refill (that comes with) and plug into a wall socket, no chemicals are used, just a sticky surface (both sides) and a blue light that can go as a night light too (my boys still need a light night to stay in their room;) ) the light attracks the insects, to get trapped in the sticky part! the product is affordable and easy to use, I'm getting another one for the fruit flies in the kitchen

This product is very easy to set up and use with very little instructions needed. Easy to install and use in your home. I love the blue light emitting from the light trap. My light trap however didn't catch any bugs while left on throughout the night. I also find the pricing of this starter kit to be too pricey and expensive even when on sale. I wouldn't recommend this product. I also felt like the starter kit should come with more than 1 refill simply just because of how pricey this starter kit is.

I can say that this item came at a perfect time because I came home recently and saw a couple of fruit flies. I notice a lot in my kitchen around my sink during the season and of course by my fruit so I placed the Stem trap to the closest outlet to my fruit, in the kitchen. The light is nice, blue and bright so it will definitely help attract the all of fruit flies and other pests. I tapped the sticky pad to feel how sticky it was and it was a nice thick layer of glue. I've seen a few since I've plugged it in and I'm confident that it'll attract more. I was so annoyed last year with the fruit flies. I was using a racket, which helped, but it was annoying because they're super small. This will continue to help without me doing any of the work!

The STEM Flying Insect Light Trap seems like a unique product since it doesn't use insecticide. It is also pet and people-safe. It has a piece of cardboard that is sticky on both sides which fits in a slot behind the blue light It's like a combo of fly paper and bug light without the zap. What I don't like is that it can only be used in an electrical outlet and I would have to buy more sticky refills.
