The sticky refill cartridge trap I had to install (by simply removing some backing and pushing down into a slot easily) had a light scent to it. I wasn't sure if the scent was for attracting insects but I was glad it was not an overwhelming nor unpleasant smell since I'm sensitive to scents. I would have preferred it if it was unscented but I understand if that's not possible. The box came with one refill. I was also happy about the blue light doubling as a nightlight. I've plugged it into my kitchen since that's where flies and fruit flies are often bothering us.

It does a great job at collecting the flies and insects that get into the garage. Especially, as I get older, the elimination is enough to see at night, but not so bright to keep me awake. And the best part is it catches those small bugs around the house we get in the south all the time. I know it should be a bug catcher first, but for me, it's a great nightlight that also catches bugs. This is the second one I've purchased because the first one worked so well. I didn't think it would, but 30 days in, the sticky bug catcher had more bugs stuck to it that I even thought I had. It's a great, multi-purpose product.
