It is a pleasant dim blue light that can act as a night light as well as attracting the flying insects. It plugs into an outlet and the refill is easy to install. I haven't had it long enough to see if any insects will be trapped on the sticky surface of the refill but I have high hopes. I wish it came with one more sticky refill instead of just the one to install out of the box.

I can see how effective the refill piece is at capturing flying insects since it is really sticky. The blue light from the unit is very pleasing and not blindingly bright. So with the combination of the light and the sticky piece, I can see how flying bugs will get caught up in it. This also makes it clean and easy to throw away the bugs on the sticky piece.

You take it out the box plug it in and place the sticky trap on it for the flies. Something different that I feel is useful is that the sticky that is used to trap the insects is on both sides. That is something different you don't see with other brands. The lighting to it is pretty bright LED blue. However other brands offer a day and night switch for different colors for the day. I feel that it's decent to get the job done, however there are better options. I think this products next version would have to step up its game.
