It has a subtle chocolate taste and isn’t too thick, which makes it pretty easy to drink. It comes in small cartons that are easy for on-the-go, but seem to not get very cold. But if you’re use to the protein taste, then you’d probably like these. 33g of protein in 1 carton is crazy! 200 calories isn’t too bad either. I’m not a huge fan of chocolate but these are good!

I’m a nursing mom, and I have a hard time eating enough protein each day. When I don’t get enough protein I tend to crave a lot of junk food late at night. So, this shake is really helpful for me. The texture is like a regular milk and chocolate taste is mild. I haven’t tried an older version, so it is hard for me to compare. It tastes like a milk you get from chocolate cereal for me, which I like.

I drink protein shakes daily, and this one surprised me. It’s more like a chocolate milk on steroids and has an impressively short ingredient list. It’s a little chalky tasting, but that’s expected with this much protein. I removed a star due to the fact that the stevia aftertaste and mouthfeel are noticeable to me, which I know is common with stevia, but it’s not my favorite. I really wish more brands would skip stevia, sugar alcohols, artificial sweeteners and preservatives altogether. In a perfect world I’d like to see refillable packaging to reduce waste and make buying in bulk easier. On the practical side, it’s super portable; fits in a car cup holder, and is resealable without leakage. Since it’s premixed it just needs a quick shake and it’s much smoother to drink when served cold or on ice. Considering the price per bottle, it’s actually a better price than most high-protein shakes even though it still feels a little bit pricy compared to lower-protein options. Overall the Muscle Milk Pro Series is a convenient, high protein option with a rich milk chocolate flavor and simple ingredients.
