I will preface this with I donated my mattress to charity, after determining it was for me. But, I think this bed will work for a lot of people so I'd like to share my likes and dislikes. Hopefully this helps your decision! Ordering the bed was easy. I actually jumped on the chat service to discuss which bed would be best for me. The customer service agent was nice and helpful. I ordered the Purple 2.0 with the free option of Purple bed sheets. Shipping was easy and no issues there. However, the bed came before the sheets. Which was a little annoying as the sheets I did have didn't really fit well on it. So, I kinda hope they fix that. Otherwise this process was good. Sleeping on the bed. So, I love the feel of this bed. It's very unique. Many people refer to the feel like sleeping on a gel pad. I would agree. The bed is a bit softer than expected and kinda bouncy. I tried this bed for about 3-35 days before decided to begin the return option. I'm just under 6 feet and about 280 pounds. On my back, I'm not sure another bed could beat the comfort level. However, I'm not a fan of sleeping on my back. So while it felt good, it's not my desired position. On my side, it felt good, but I felt that my hips sunk in too far and it made my shoulder and neck a little out of alignment so I would wake up with a sore upper body. I primarily fall asleep and spend a good portion of time on my side. I've had back issues in the past and as a result I sleep on my stomach a lot. This mattress was just too soft for stomach sleeping. My back bent more than what I experienced on my 6 year old cheap memory foam bed. Because of the stomach sleeping issue, that's what made me decide to return it. I would say though. A more moderately sized individual would probably really enjoy sleeping on this. I just think I'm too big for it's support level. And the Purple 2.0 is the firmest model they have. The 4.0 is considered the softest. I'd also mention that at times I felt like I was ending up in the middle of the mattress. Almost like through the night I would "roll" to the middle. Returning the mattress. This was a very easy process. The customer service agent was very friendly and helped with all my questions. Purple gives about 3-5 options for return. Have someone they choose pick it up for recycle, donate it to charity, extend your trial to see if you change your mind and another one that slips my mind right now. I chose donating it to charity. A great option. I'm glad they allow that rather than sending it to be recycled or dumped at a landfill. All I needed to do was fill out a form stating my choice of return, contact a charity, then provide a picture back to Purple of a receipt from that charity proving it had been donated. Within a few days of providing the receipt I was refunded in full! Lastly, I would like to say, this is a unique bed that may work for a lot of people. If you are willing to take a chance I would recommend trying it for sure. With a 100 percent refund guarantee, why not try it. You may love it! And I suspect a lot of people do. I tip my cap to Purple for their desire to innovate and create something new. I will continue to follow them and if I see changes to the firmness I will likely try it out in the future. So my wife and I have been sleeping on the Purple mattress for close to a month now. Our last mattress was 7.5 years old but it's been a real problem for a while now and it got to the point where I would sleep all night and wake up feeling like I slept a fraction of what I did. She was complaining of restless sleep and a painful knee from how she slept which she would use a pillow to help comfort her knees. Knowing how moving to a new mattress could take time for our bodies to adjust and fully expecting a rough start because of just HOW bad our previous mattress was I was prepared for the full trial Purple was offering. From the first nights sleep the change was immediate - my energy was up and I felt good. Confuzzeled why it was so smooth I went through a few more nights waiting for that harsh adjustment period. After each night not only did I feel so well rested but any numbness or pain I had previously from the last mattress after waking up was also gone. Almost a month later and neither one of us ever had to deal with any adjustment, it has just been amazing since the very first day. I feel fortunate because I know it's something to be expected so I think we got lucky. I can't tell you how great it is waking up EVERY day feeling well rested. I was seriously at my wits end and honestly didn't want to deal with traditional mattresses anymore. I've been researching these new range of online mattress retailers for probably 2 years now. It always came down to Purple being my pick because it just seemed unique and best fit our needs. We wanted something soft but firm but also supportive and that's absolutely what we got. I hear great things about the competitors too and many people are happy with those but the idea of that Purple layer seemed brilliant and unmatched. I was a tad weary of how it would feel but you honestly can't even tell that special grid like gel is even there. Since it's built inside It feels just like regular soft cloth material. It really does feel like it cradles all your pressure points and I really do agree that it's a firm mattress yet also soft where it counts. As for it keeping you cool it absolutely does. Even during this hot summer and humid nights, when we were a bit hot laying in bed, it never felt so on the bed itself. It helps you cool off much faster since the side you're laying on isn't absorbing the heat. Besides sleeping, reading has also been a pleasure as we don't constantly feel like we are sliding down as we struggle to sit up. Everything has just been better on the Purple. My wife has been thrilled herself and it didn't take long for her to say 'we're keeping it' either. I hope it holds up for a long time but the 10 year warranty does leave us feeling very confident. Couple of things to add - people mentioned a smell and there was indeed a very slight odor but only for about a week and it was gone. It was never anything THAT strong or even bad at all so don't let that deter you. Some people over exaggerate. Compared to our previous mattress which was a (King) pillow top, this thing seems like half the height which was initially a concern. Turns out we love being lower to the ground but it's something to keep in mind. Because of the height of our bed furniture though we couldn't use a box spring previously as it would have been WAY too high, so we had bought bunky boards which are near solid flat foundations. Turns out this is exactly what we needed for the Purple anyway so we also didn't have to purchase anything new for support. Now this is important - I see on Facebook people have complained about the mattress sinking in only to see later they all said they are using box springs which the Purple site specifically states NOT to use. I would recommend doing ALL research before trying out any of these online mattresses to ensure a smooth trial. All this info is on the site.

I bought this for my 7 year old daughter since I also have a Purple 4 Hybrid mattress and she wanted one that was like mine. I think the purple layer is a little slim for an adult but for someone thin or small it is great. Almost got the kids mattress but decided to just spend the extra to get one that she won't outgrow as easily. She loves it.

Haven't had the bed very long but we can already tell a huge difference! I'm 7 months pregnant and this mattress has removed the pain I was having with our previous mattress, which was only a few years old! We will be recommending Purple to all of our friends!

I was very excited to have purchased Purple and expectant to try it out. After 5 weeks of my order it finally arrived. I measure my sleep patterns with technology. Immediately I saw my sleeping scores drastically drop. I was averaging 87-90 and since I have Purple I've dropped to 73-76 daily. Mattress hurts my back. I'm a back sleeper and have sleep apnea. I'm returning when my 21 nights are done. I tried returning it before but Purple forces you to sleep on it for 21 days. Can't wait until the 21 days are done.

I researched for about a month on beds in a box. I chose to go with the Purple 4. After I ordered it I continued to research and almost felt that I made the wrong decision going with Purple. From time of order to delivery and set up was a week, I felt that was very acceptable. I also ordered the power base. My first night on the bed was AMAZING!!! I'm a side sleeper and what an incredible improvement over my mattress I replaced. I always wake up with back, hip and shoulder pain EVERY morning, except for the morning I woke up from my first night sleeping on my Purple. I had NO pain in any part of my body and I sleep sounder and longer between my normal wake ups. What an amazing mattress. I would highly recommend the Purple and the power base. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!! I do not regret the purchase. And now that it's been about a week, it's been a week of sounder sleep and waking up pain free and that is priceless!!!

At first it was a little firm. My other mattress was soft. Wasn't sure if I liked it for the first, probably 3 weeks. Once I got used to it I'm really loving it. The wife feels the same. I weigh about 155. Would definitely recommend a purple. Give it at least 3 weeks before you make up your mind.

Had the purple mattress for about a month now and am very happy with its performance. Most comfortable sleep I've had in a long time. No more achy back in the morning. Be sure to get the stretchy sheets they recommend to allow the mattress to cradle you instead of the sheets. For the price it's a high performance mattress of great quality. I also suggest getting the pillows my neck pain after sleep is no longer there. Highly recommend all of purple's products.

The mattress is unlike any on the market. The feel of the top layer is apparent when first laying on it, but becomes imperceptible quickly. I have been dealing with intense upper back pain for a few years now, and I believe part of the problem was my bed. I can't report that I'm pain free, but it hasn't been so bad that I've been reduced to tears since I got my Purple. I also got the pillow. I love the way the pillow feels under my head, but I couldn't stand the smell. I took it off my bed for a couple weeks, thinking I wouldn't be able to use it for its intended purpose. I decided to try it again (because it really felt nice) and am pleased to report that it no longer smells! My husband and I are the type of couple who cuddle nearly all night. We are able to cuddle comfortably on this mattress, more so than our previous memory foam mattress. We also like that it sleeps a lot cooler than foam. I love the mattress, the service from the company, and the chuckle-worthy correspondence. The ads are pretty great too - this is coming from someone who goes to great lengths to avoid commercials! I've told numerous people how pleased I am with the product and the company. I really appreciate the overall quality of everything!

My boyfriend and I decided to try the purple mattress (queen size, original style) because of the new technology and the 100 night trial. We both do not like the sinking feeling of a memory foam mattress but, as we are both side sleepers, we can't have a bed too firm or our whole body aches. The purple mattress was the perfect solution. There is a tiny bit of a sinking feeling but I feel it more than my boyfriend (I have large hips and that's the area that sinks in). At first I was getting very sweaty when sleeping, but I discovered that was just the low quality sheets I was using. I have since changed sheets and have no sleep sweats. (I received the purple sheets as part of a promotion, but they came in 3 days after the mattress. I will write a separate review for the sheets) The only complaint I have (the reason this review is 4 stars instead of 5) is the weight of the mattress. This guy is HEAVY! There are no added handles to grab and the mattress cover is slippery. But I must add that for being a mattress-in-a-box it was not as flimsy as I would have expected. It holds it's shape very well, even on its side.
