My husband and I have been sleeping with what we thought was a comfortable Tempur-pedic Mattress for the last 12 years, but it was time for a new mattress. The quirky Purple Mattress commercials initially sparked my interest in Purple Mattress, and then I explored further into the science of hyper-elastic polymers and the reported advantages that Purple Mattress offers. After watching several videos, I took the leap and ordered a new mattress and a purple pillow. My report: Smell - slight chemically smell that my husband dislikes, but far less than the Tempur-pedic mattress we bought 12 years ago. I haven't found this problematic, but we have been allowing air to circulate in the bedroom to further outgas the bed. Sleep Temperature: The Purple mattress definitely sleeps cooler than a Tempur-pedic mattress, a feature I quite enjoy as I tend to be a hot sleeper. Firmness and Support: The level 3 Purple is supposed to be the "middle" firmness and it definitely feels firmer than the "medium" firmness offered by the Tempur-pedic mattress. My husband describes it as sleeping on firm Jello. I find that the mattress conforms to the contour of my side sleeping profile without uncomfortable pressure points. The Tempurpedic mattress, tended to slump into a big hole and you sometimes felt trapped. Overall, much better support and relief from pressure points but it will take some getting used to in order to adjust to the firmness. Weight: Both the mattress and the pillow are quite heavy; particularly the pillow. It is of a weight that discourages you from moving it throughout the night. On the other hand, it gives me much better neck comfort so I do not need to adjust its position often. Final Review: Overall, I consider the Purple Mattress to be a significant upgrade and is by far, the most comfortable mattress that I have owned.

Did something to my spine playing sports (tailbone injury). The pain I was having when I slept on my old mattress is non existent while sleeping on my new purple. I was worried I would need to get a thicker grid but this one has worked just fine for me. Thanks!

I did a lot of research and searching for a bed before purchasing. I tried the brick and mortar mattress stores and rested on every bed imaginable, foam, spring, water, etc. and various combinations. I waiting until we have slept on the bed for six months before writing the review. The Purple mattress is unlike any I had slept on before. This mattress provides the prefect cushion for my body and my wife's body alike. My teenage kids try to convince us to switch beds just so they can sleep on the mattress. I was afraid the mattress would sleep hot but it does not at all! The pillow is all I use to rest my head on now. Regardless of how I sleep, it provides the perfect adjustment for my neck. The pillow sleeps very cool! The mattress protector provides the protection from spills and is flexible enough to allow the mattress to work properly. The sheet set is amazingly comfortable. The fitted sheet is a necessity, as it allows the mattress to work correctly! The flat sheet can be a bit unruly at night. When in bed my wife and I found that it would cling to us at night making it challenging to move our legs out of the covers. The pillowcases are just as comfortable. However, one criticism, the pillow cases are sized for the bed (as they should be) but the purple pillow is one size fits all. As a result, the king pillowcase that came with the mattress set is far too big for the purple pillow. Overall, I would and have recommending this bed to many people. The next mattresses we buy for the other rooms in our house will be a purple!

I've been waiting over a year to purchase this mattress. I told my sister about this brand,she ordered it and loves it. That only made me want it more. In December I gave birth to my daughter and dislocated my hip during labor. After that it became unbearable to sleep in my bed. I had to start sleeping onthe couch. My husband was tired of sleeping alone after a couple of weeks and ordered the purple. Best decision on a mattress ever! The first couple of days we were unsure if we liked it or not. It felt to firm for me and my husband just didn't know what he didn't like about it. The first two day my back pain radiated to my neck but my hip pain was decreasing.by the third day nothing hurt anymore. I slept in a luxury hotel bed for two days and couldn't wait to get back to my Purple mattress. It has the quality of firm and soft at the same time. I can't feel my husband or kids moving around in my bed during the night. One is 3years old and the other 10 months old, that is basically like sleeping with two greedy space stealing monsters. Their movement just doesn't phase me as badly anymore. I love this mattress. I recommend it for nursing moms and co sleepers. Oh btwmy husband is 6'3" and 270lbs this mattress is firm enough to keep him from feeling like the bed in caving in around him. He loves it now as well and has been sleeping even harder than before.

No more back or hip pain. Both my husband and her I suffer from back and hip pain. We decided we'd give this bed a try. It's been 3 weeks and we both feel so much better. We can now get up in the morning without hobbling around. We're in our 70's and the Purple Bed is fantastic. He's a back sleeper and I'm a side sleeper.

Actually, I'm glad I purchased a Purple -- I was debating between Purple, T&N and Casper, but I went with the online reviews recommending Purple for "curvy" side sleepers. It's actually been good so far (< 1 month use). Helped immensely with the backaches, but waist and hip support feels a bit fimer than against the rest of the body (again, maybe it's because that's where the curves are fuller). Also, as a side sleeper who prefers one side of the bed over the other (even on a twin -- I can't sleep in the center), it feels like the side that's not used more often seems to "hill" or "bunch up" for lack of a better term -- basically my side accommodates my shape but the other rises higher. Not that drastically, though -- a few rolls (yes, just regular rolling over -- alone) on the unused side does a good enough job to even out the bed again, for the most part. At any rate, I'm pretty pleased with the Purple twin mattress; though not taking away anything from it being greatly comfortable, any new mattress without springs poking out after over a decade of use was a 1000% improvement. I would be happy to recommend Purple to anyone who is looking for a similar type of mattress/support.

We were so excited to sleep on our new purple that when it arrived we slept on it on the floor until the purple base arrived. Once the base arrived; we put it together and immediately noticed that we can feel every bar. Feeling it through the mattress is uncomfortable.

I am 68 years old with severe arthritis in my knees and back, plus I was in a serious car accident in 2002, which has left me with permanent back issues and a weight gain of almost 100 pounds! Over the years I have tried everything on the market to try and get a good night's sleep, up to and including the premier sleep number adjustable bed. On top of that bed I placed another 4 inch memory foam topper... Still waking up every two or three hours stiff and in pain and needing to shift my position. I have ten pillows on my bed to help configure a comfortable position. Now comes the miracle of your purple mattress. My daughter and I unpacked it and placed it on top of my sleep number bed (so I have a high bed!) We both laid on it and in minutes all the pain left our bodies! Couldn't believe it! Long story short... There have been 3 times in the past few weeks when I didn't have to set my alarm... On each of those occasions I slept for 12 hours! I was in the same position I fell asleep in! I couldn't believe it! And my back wasn't stiff or screaming at me! I know in my heart that as my body receives the healing sleep it needs, my health will improve. My daughter has already brought two of her friends over to lay on my bed! She will be ordering her own soon! Thank you for giving me hope that soon I can return to vibrant health! I've struggled for years with pain in my hips when trying to sleep. We've tried different sleeping options trying to relieve the pain, memory foam, sleep number, hard, soft, but nothing worked until we got our Purple mattress. It probably took me five nights to settle in, but I haven't had a return of that horrible pain in several weeks.

Received the mattress just 2 days prior to leaving on vacation for 1 week. Have now slept on for a total of 9 nights, so too early to give a 'final approval' rating. However, I can say that my wife loves it, and so far I am pleased. We purchases the mattress because my son purchased one about 1 1/2 years ago and after 'grandsitting' for a week and sleeping on the bed, my wife 'indicated' she though she would like to have one. Thus, we are giving it the "100" day trial. My only negative so far is the fact that it sits so low to the floor on the purchased bed frame as you recommended in lieu of putting on top of a box spring; not sure why. As a compromise, I put a sheet of solid plywood on the bed frames rails, put the Purple Bed frame sitting on that, and the the Purple Mattress. Now, it's about 4 inches too high given the fact that my wife is only 5'1". May have to look at another option.
