Once upon a time (when I was first born, probably) I had no back pain or issues with my knees. Ever since then, I have always had concerns because I'm swayback and my kneecaps slide out of joint causing pain and inflammation. I grew up on pillow-top mattresses tall enough for a princess but while comfy didn't really help/hurt my back, etc. My most recent pillow-top mattress was pretty good but collapsed over time to where I felt like I could slide off the bed and fall prey to the shadow monsters lurking below. So I bought an expensive Tempur-Pedic mattress that even had the cooling feature. They said to give it 30 nights but it only took one for my lower back to feel like it had been beaten by golf clubs for 8 hours. I banished that mattress back to the manufacturer. Enter Purple, my knight in shining armor. Ordered it online (figured why not? nothing could be worse than the Tempur-Pedic) and a week and a half later the king-sized mattress was at my front door looking like a fancy purple crepe. After trying to get it upstairs by myself (I'm a tad stubborn..) my husband and I joined forces and got it into the bedroom. We unpacked it, gave it an hour to unsquish, put on the Malouf mattress protector followed by our comfiest sheets. No joke, I lay on the mattress for 2 minutes and the back and knee pain literally start melting like lipstick you accidentally left in the car on a hot summer day (FYI it's messy and sad.. RIP Nars) and it's wonderful. It gives the support I need like a good bra, but I still sink into it in places like I would with a soft mattress. No, I didn't try the raw egg test. But if this mattress can cradle my fat butt I'm sure it can cradle an egg. BRB SLEEPING

I had an old Sealy mattress in grad school. The Purple mattress was my graduation present to me when I moved to start work. When I first lay down on it, it was like angels sang! I fall in love with it every time I sleep on it. It's just right- not to hard and not too soft. Can't appreciate it enough.

Hi there, I ordered the Twin size for my son's new loft bed and he's said that it's too firm and wishes it was softer. Is there anything you can offer to help (return/exchange/suggestions)? Other than that I do think it keeps him cooler than his old mattress.

I wasn't sure if this mattress would help relieve my back pain or help me sleep. I didn't want to spend the money and have it not work. We have a guest room that the bed was 30+ years old and needed to be replaced. Decided to replace this mattress as a test. After the first night sleeping on the Purple 75% of my back pain is relieved. The mattress continues to help reduce the pain in my back and knees. I have always had trouble sleeping, falling asleep and staying asleep. With the Purple mattress I notice I fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer with less moving around. My dog loves this mattress. She stays in one spot. I don't feel her weight pulling me down and I don't feel her moving off the bed. This lovely Purple mattress is wonderful. I plan on replacing the other beds in the house with Purple. Purple does sell dog beds, it's on the list to replace too.

People often say this mattress makes them feel better, back pain, pain in general. Not true. I mean if your a back sleeper its great! Sleeping on your side its fine but not as good imo. im 6 ft 200lbs and still wake up stiff sometimes. Dont get me wrong, the mattress is great but I can't really compare, i've been sleeping on a futon for decades, compared to that this mattress is GREAT so I am grateful, but its not as great as people make it out to me. I say if you got the extra cash go with a higher end brand. Its kinda stiff and a bit too firm sometimes.

Im a back sleeper and is ok not bad i dont wake up with pain but i still a litle uncomfortable. I need somenthing alitle softer just a tid bit. How ever my pillow sucks!! I cant find a pillow that i can feel good with. Maybe its the combo between my pillow and the matress. I would love to see how the new purple pillow feels like in contrast to the purple matress.

We have had the original purple mattress for 2 years now. I took for granted how much I loved this bed until last evening when a friend started complaining about her mattress. I shouldn't still be excited about my mattress two years later, but here we are. We find ourselves not only sleeping better but choosing to hang out on our bed because it is the best place in the house. Instead of sitting in front of the TV, or using any of the other rooms of the house, we are constantly in bed because it's that comfy. We love, love, love this mattress.

I have slept on quite few mattresses from traveling when I was a teenager with friends. Pillow tops, firm mattress, water bed, soft mattress, and even had the pleasure of sleeping on a sleep number when vacationing in California. Now where a few where able to provide a supported or soft relaxing sleep most just came up short being able to do both in my opinion. But now that I am back home and working a very labor intense job to pay the bills. Everyday my body ends up thrashed from neck down to my feet, so knowing my mattress will allow me to just lay down in almost any position while still having the maximum support and comfort I need to pass out is a solemn bless. Thank you Purple, thank you

I am disabled with scoliosis, other lower back medical troubles and suffer with chronic pain. Over 10-years ago a Purple mattress saved me, allowed me to sleep/function with less pain. That mattress has since broken down so my first choice was another Purple. This new mattress is NOT the same, it seems softer and I float/sink down into it. The first time sleeping in it, after 3-days, I was in extreme pain, so much so I re-setup my old mattress to recover. I have used the new Purple a 2nd time and sleeping in it is OK but still having difficulties getting in/out of the mattress and having pain, different than my typical chronic pain/issues. Wish they had not changed it, had something very good - leave it alone! I will still suggest Purple to anyone, especially those with difficulties.

First things first, the ordering shipping and quality of the mattress was all first rate. And my experience with customer service has been perfect so far. I am in the process of returning the mattress now, so we'll see. The reason for the return is that this mattress is to firm for me and my wife. It seems to be a quality product and does sleep cooler than my current mattress with a 3" memory foam topper. So quality in my opinion is not a problem. I did use the purple sheets on the mattress. So that tight fitting sheets isn't the problem. I'm primarily a side sleeper and a big guy 6'0 260lbs. My wife is a combination sleeper, stomach and side and much lighter lol than I. We both quickly developed pressure point pains, me in the hips and her in the shoulders. If you like a bed on the firmer side I'd recommend this product, it does in my opinion sleep cooler than other similar mattress.
