I was very surprised by this mattress. Both in the support it provides, without being soft. And in how cool it is temperature wise (had to add blankets) I am experiencing difficulties but that's because my existing pillows don't compliment the the mattress. So I'm changing those around to work better for me.

When I was in my mid 40's, the only bed that provided sufficient back relief for me was the Tempurpedic. Despite the "sleeping warm or hot" aspect of memory foam at the time, it served me well. After 20 years, two hip replacements, five rotator cuff surgeries, arthritis and age-related changes, I felt too much pain on our memory foam mattress (aging as well). Thus began my search for a more comfortable alternative. I read and watched many reviews. It seemed that there were several no-risk options that were both affordable and worth consideration. Before purchasing, my wife and I had the opportunity to lay on the Purple mattresses (Original and Purple2) in a store, and we both liked it enough to give it a try at home. I am pleased to report that for the first time in over 5 years, I feel instant relief just laying on our new Purple mattress. There are no pressure aches or pains of any type, and zero discomfort or heat issues. My 69 year old body is happier than it has been in a long time. Surprisingly, in less than two weeks, I realized the unexpected benefit of no more leg or foot cramps. Those lower extremity cramps had been occurring for several years with regularity, and I had no expectation that a more forgiving, pressure-relieving mattress would resolve those issues. What a great and fantastic surprise! Not only do I now enjoy immediate relief and comfort in bed, but I no longer suffer from painful cramps. Using the Original Purple mattress, along with the Purple pillow, also has enhanced my sleep experience in another way. Also, for the first time in my life, I can sleep on my back quite comfortably, and with no issues. While normally a side sleeper, I like the option also to rest and sleep on my back, without pillows between my knees. Needless to say, I am delighted with our Purple mattress. I am 6'1" and under 195 pounds. My wife is 5'4" and under110 lbs. Thanks Purple for improving the quality of our lives!

I was suffering from such bad back and hip pain in our old mattress, that I would get up at night and go sleep in the guest room. With the Purple, it's opposite. The new bed supports while softly sinking in, so the guest mattress now feels horrible in comparison. I'm a side sleeper. My husband is a stomach sleeper. He was worried about getting the new mattress because he slept fine on the old one. He sleeps even better now - saying that he didn't realize the uncomfort that he actually felt with the old memory foam one until he tried this one. It took a little getting used to for sleeping, but the pain relief was immediate.

I was anxious to receive my bed as I had read a lot of the great reviews and questioned the consistency of them, I also read some bad reviews and became stressed all the more. However, after receiving my bed and lugging the super heavy tube up three flights of stairs I've been sleeping like an angel. The bed is brilliant and truly unique, give it a try, you've nothing to lose!

So I was diagnosed with scoliosis as a young child. I have spent more than two thirds of my life living with treatment, physical therapy, alternative therapies, trying gimics and endless amounts prescription pain meds. As an adult I have been diagnosed with degenerative arthritis, severe spondylitis and sciatica issues. Top all of that off with the fact the I spent a lot of time as cyclist, participation in roller derby and just an active person. I have known for some time that I would have to start being kinder to my body. Being able to rest and recover after events is crucial. December 2015, I had major spine surgery. 16 screws, 12 hooks and 4 titanium rods now connect from T8 to S1 (Google a spinal map for a better picture of what that looks like.). Having a solid, comfortable bed is tremendous. We have tried conventional sleep systems. They still required modifications for me. I started looking online. Like most people, the thought of buying a mattress sight unseen (especially with my issues) is just not going to happen. So I started researching. I looked at all of the 'internet' mattresses. Most did not answer any of my questions. The thought alone of being on a foam mattress made me sweat. Memory foam toppers are not only hot but they felt like I was laying wet sand. Nope, I needed to know more. I looked at real customer reviews online. I tried online chatting with representatives from the different online retailers. Not one had answers to my questions... except Purple. The others maybe had longer warranties or trial periods. Some cost more, some a little less. However, they couldn't or wouldn't answer my questions. Purple has been a straight shooter from the start. We received our Purple mattress about 50 days ago. We live in Texas and it was nearing the end of our triple digit summertime so I was concerned that first night about being too warm. We were both pleasantly surprised. Neither of us was warm and we both woke up snuggled under our blankets. For me and my pain issues, I slept well. Not just good or okay, but well. I have my good days and bad days still, but I feel rested and it is easier to wake up. So far so good. Now we have the big test... holidays with the inlaws. We were out of town for Thanksgiving. I had to sleep in a recliner for FOUR NIGHTS. I could not get comfortable on any of the guest beds or our expensive air mattress we bring with when we travel. Pain levels were very high. I could not wait to be home. After getting home, unloading, cleaning up and got ready just chill with a movie before bed time. I started the movie and crawled into bed. Within 15 minutes I was out cold. I woke this morning, rested. Still a little sore but rested and was able to start my day without having to hit the pain meds first. I have definitely missed my Purple sleeps. From their amazing customer service team (Travis is AWESOME!), highly hilarious marketing to just simply producing a quality product, I cannot recommend this mattress enough. I look forward to my continued healing and living my active lifestyle, knowing that I can truly rest and recharge in the supportive comfort of my Purple mattress. Thanks!

I am disabled with scoliosis, other lower back medical troubles and suffer with chronic pain. Over 10-years ago a Purple mattress saved me, allowed me to sleep/function with less pain. That mattress has since broken down so my first choice was another Purple. This new mattress is NOT the same, it seems softer and I float/sink down into it. The first time sleeping in it, after 3-days, I was in extreme pain, so much so I re-setup my old mattress to recover. I have used the new Purple a 2nd time and sleeping in it is OK but still having difficulties getting in/out of the mattress and having pain, different than my typical chronic pain/issues. Wish they had not changed it, had something very good - leave it alone! I will still suggest Purple to anyone, especially those with difficulties.

Love our bed! The extra space under the base is awesome! the mattress, our backs have not hurt when we get up and i have had back surgery, and have a metal plate in my back.. i also love my seat cushion makes road trips possible.. and the sheets are well worth the money.. i am happy with all of my purchases..

How do you put a price on great sleep? ,,,, oh I guess they did and it's affordable. We went for the whole package bed, frame, protector, sheets, and two pillows. I've never slept this well. As a fireman everything I use is put to the test so far this exceeds all expectations.

I love my Purple mattress. Never realized how bad my last bed was until I made the switch. I just moved out of my dad's house and it was a little concerning how expensive everything was turning out to be, but I'm so glad I didn't cheap out on my bed. I'm halfway across the country from my family, but the bed still feels like home!

I was definitely skeptical about buying a mattress online, but with the return policy I figured I would try it. Best idea ever! I'm such a light sleeper, and I no longer get woken up when my husband is restless or the cats are jumping all around. Plus, it's so comfortable!
