The mattress is unlike any on the market. The feel of the top layer is apparent when first laying on it, but becomes imperceptible quickly. I have been dealing with intense upper back pain for a few years now, and I believe part of the problem was my bed. I can't report that I'm pain free, but it hasn't been so bad that I've been reduced to tears since I got my Purple. I also got the pillow. I love the way the pillow feels under my head, but I couldn't stand the smell. I took it off my bed for a couple weeks, thinking I wouldn't be able to use it for its intended purpose. I decided to try it again (because it really felt nice) and am pleased to report that it no longer smells! My husband and I are the type of couple who cuddle nearly all night. We are able to cuddle comfortably on this mattress, more so than our previous memory foam mattress. We also like that it sleeps a lot cooler than foam. I love the mattress, the service from the company, and the chuckle-worthy correspondence. The ads are pretty great too - this is coming from someone who goes to great lengths to avoid commercials! I've told numerous people how pleased I am with the product and the company. I really appreciate the overall quality of everything!

We really enjoy our Purple bed. My husband says he hasn't woken with a back ache since we've had it and it's been 2 months. The new bed smell was gone by the second day. The gaps between the silicon grid are weird to adjust to and it makes the bed cold so we got a thin mattress topper that fixed the problem. I think we will remove the topper in the hot summer months so help us cool off. The only real negative I have so far was the long ship time (3 weeks to get the bed and 9 weeks for the base) but I recommend the bed to others.

In my opinion (non-biased) the purple mattress overall is great. It's not the best I've ever had and light years from the worst. The padding over the gridded silicon-like substance provides an immediate response to movement with little to no sound coming from the mattress itself. The design keeps a cool and balanced temperature between a box spring and set of blankets and comforter to provide a much needed expertly designed sleep. I find that the edge support of the mattress is severely lacking, but as with all things, the new mattress is an evolved state of the original Purple and supports sitting on the edge as well as sleeping on it. In my nights on the mattress I've discovered that a flaw was created by the user (me) of sheets. This mattress is designed to have purple sheets on it and I wish I'd gone the extra mile to purchase them with it. When I first lay on the mattress the day of delivery I was skeptical and almost outraged at the comments and reviews it was given, but seconds later not only my emotions about the mattress, but my opinion as well was shifted. It takes seconds for your body to adjust to the new feeling of the mattress and the engineering is designed for any position in the bed. Even laying down to binge watch a series, or simply escape daylight with a loved one is an incredible experience. I've laid on many mattresses and slept countless hours in regret, but I have not had a second thought since my first night. This is really a great mattress and is in my top 5. Take my advice and give this mattress a try. I mean, if you don't like it, return it :/.

It started out great for me. For my wife, however, it was just ok. She struggles with a sore back. Now, it's very bad for me, and it's been very bad for my wife. I wake up with a terribly sore back almost every morning. We are beyond our 100 days, so now it's a loss. :(

My husband and I have had a Purple mattress for several years, and LOVE it. We got mattresses for our kids a couple weeks ago, because they would always comment when they laid on our bed--"Your bed is SO COMFY!" "I'm never getting up from here!" It took about a week for them to get used to the Purple mattress, because it's so different, but they love their beds now. They sleep so soundly!

I like super soft and my boyfriend likes firm. He loves purple. I'm still getting used to it. Takes me forever to fall asleep, but once I'm asleep I stay asleep. I don't wake up at 3 because I'm too warm. Even if I'm sore when I go to bed, I don't wake up sore. Before purple I've always slept on my side... I can't on purple. I don't feel like I actually weigh enough for the bed, but it's a good bed and if it lasts for 5 years I'll be very pleased

We've had memory foam beds and our last bed was a regular spring mattress. This purple bed is unbelievable. It keeps us cool and we never wake up with sore backs anymore. My girlfriend was always cracking her back all day long. We've had the purple bed for about a month now and she never needs to anymore.

Had the mattress for a little over a month and are extremely satisfied with comfort and sleepability. All the positive qualities advertised for the Purple are spot on. My only reservation at this point is I'm having the perception that the mattress is "wearing in" where I sleep. I am an edge sleeper and it seems to me that the support might be diminishing. I'm not convinced of it yet and it doesn't change my 5 star rating at this point, but I'll be paying close attention in the weeks and months to come.

We have owned this mattress for exactly three years and I am here to tell you, we still look forward to going to bed every night. Before the Purple mattress, we used wake up in actual pain. We had a brand new nice mattress and an adjustable base for 2 years and it was excruciating to get out of bed. I am kidding you not, the first night we slept on the Purple mattress, we woke up feeling SO good and have ever since. I have a hard time convincing people to buy this due to the price tag, but I'm a firm believer in "if you're going to invest in ANY furniture, it's a mattress because it's where you spend the other half of your day." If you're really in the market to buy this mattress, you won't regret it!

The Buying process was fine and customer service was helpful with fixing addresses. I find the old mattress much more comfortable still. Though my husband finds the purple more comfortable for himself. It feels like my body is contorted to be in a line which is painful because of the natural curvature of my spine. If I lean against my husband or the wall that has helped with the aches my back experiences.
