For me personally the mattress just didn't give me good back support, leading to back pain. I also was surprised the large channels didn't give me good air circulation, It might be because the mattresses cover seems to be a synthetic material and tightly woven. Maybe if the mattress cover was a poly cotton blend with a more open weave that would help with air circulation, but I don't know.

My initial mattress purchase was defective. It looked like it was placed next to a heater or something and it melted the "Purple" material flat. Customer service was great in helping me in getting a replacement. However, wow these mattresses are heavy and having to move two around the house now was cumbersome and difficult. After sleeping on the mattress, I would not say it is the most comfortable thing ever but better than my 11 year old mattress. To be honest I would probably ask for my money back if it wasn't such a pain to move the mattress.

Demographics: 5'11 200+ lbs male, back and stomach sleeper Unfortunately, this mattress was not life changing as I was hoping (thus the 4 stars - truly 4.5 stars). However, I did notice an immediately difference in the amount of back pain I would wake up with. I would highly recommend this mattress to anyone. It's quiet bouncy/reactive but still supportive. I cannot attest to he coolness of the mattress because I bought it during the fall/winter time. Regardless, this mattress is a huge upgrade in quality, support, and size compared to my previous mattress. Have also purchased the mattress protector and my girlfriend is considering purchasing the pillows as well.

For the last couple years my wife n I have not been able to sleep in our bed for more then 6 hours without waking up crippled and all sorts of back issues..Since we bought our purple everything has changed, I love sleeping again and back to being able to just lay in bed for as long as we want and not having any back issues..I wake up feeling like good again and refreshed again..I give the purple( the first purple) 5 stars and would definitely recommend this bed to anyone who wants to have a good and comfortable sleep.

I PURCHASED THIS MATTRESS BECAUSE I WANTED TO TRY A DIFFERENT FEELING MATTRESS. IT DOES NOT DISSAPOINT. MY ORIGINAL MATTRESS THAT I PURCHASED IS A SLEEP NUMBER I-9000 BACK IN 2005.I REPLACED THE COVERS AND FOAM, AND IT IS GOOD AS NEW AND READY FOR ANOTHER 15YRS. NOW BACK TO THE PURPLE 4, FOR ME THE PRESSURE OF THIS MATTRESS IS INCREDIBLE, IVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE IT, QUITE RELAXING. I WILL SAY THE 1st WEEK OR TWO, MY BODY WAS ACHING IN PLACES I DIDNT KNOW EXISTED, AND I WAS THINKING, MAYBE I MADE A MISTAKE. NOT A CHANCE. IT SEEMS THAT ITS GOING TAKE MORE TIME FOR MY BODY TO GET FULLY USED TO THIS MATTRESS, BECAUSE IM WAKING UP RELAXED IN THE MORNING. THE FIRST WEEK THAT I SLEPT ON THE MATTRESS, IT WAS SOFT, BOUNCY, AND THE PURPLE GRID HAD A ROLLING EFFECT LIKE WATER BED. AFTER ABOUT 3 WKS., THE BED SEEMS TO HAVE ADJUSTED TO ITSELF. IT DOESNT FEEL AS SOFT, NO ROLLING EFFECT, AND IT FEELS EVEN MORE SUPPORTIVE ( NOT FIRM ). FOR ME PERSONALLY, IT WOULD BE NICE IF THE PURPLE COMPANY WOULD MAKE AN ALL NATURAL ADD-ON PILLOW TOP USING COTTON AND OTHER ORGANIC MATERIALS TO COMPLIMENT THE PURPLE GRID MATERIAL. ALL IN ALL FOR ME PERSONALLY, THIS IS A VERY COMFORTABLE MATTRESS AND HOPEFULLY I WILL SOON BE ABLE TO PURCHASE A PURPLE 4 TWIN XL.

This is the best mattress I've slept on, end of discussion. I moved from London to New York with nothing but a few suitcases of clothes and needed to start fresh. Top of my list was a comfortable bed. Purple's unique and quirky advertisements sold me on the company, and the mattress did not disappoint. I've never slept as well as I have on this bed - and I've just ordered Purple pillows and a mattress protector to complete the job!

My husband and I decided to get a new mattress approximately 2 months ago, after the birth of our first baby. Our old pillow top mattress we had for about 6 years was already wore down. Squeaked ungodly loud trying to get in and out, had indentions, and was not conducive to breastfeeding as I sunk down in the bed and couldn't get comfortable! We started researching new mattresses and was almost deterred by price. But what got me was the fact that I have had memory foam mattresses before, I've had a termpurpedic before, and I hated them all! They were all hard and HOT. I was so intrigued by this "purple grid" technology in their mattress. I watched all of their cute videos on their website, I read other reviews, I talked to my husband and we ultimately decided that it was worth giving it a try. The very first time we laid on it, yes, my back automatically hurt. But just as their website says, my body was not used to being in alignment! After some moments for my body to adjust I felt completely comfortable and at ease. When I woke up I had SO MUCH DROOL on my pillow it was insane. I personally have never had any pain after sleeping a night on our Purple mattress. My husband had some slight neck pain for the first three days and he now loves it. We both are so happy with our purchase at this time. I have not woke up with any back pain or a headache from neck pain like I did with my old pillow top mattress! I always have drool on my pillow and I love it! Although I don't get to sleep in too long of intervals due to our newborn, what stretch of sleep I do have is amazing. The mattress also stays cool! My husband and I both usually burn up at night, but with this mattress we actually put another blanket on our bed due to being so cool! I have nothing but great things to say so far. We also got the purple mattress protector, purple sheets, and metal bed frame! The mattress protector is like it's not even there and the sheets... OH MY GOD the sheets. They are the softest, stretchiest, most comfortable sheets ever. If you get the mattress, go ahead and get the sheets? Why not?? Thank you Purple for helping this new mom get a good nights sleep!

To be perfectly honest, it wasn't 100% what I was expecting given all the hype. That being said it still is a great mattress. We ordered the original, the mattress has a good amount of spring to it and you can feel your hips and shoulders ease into the mattress without the feeling of pressure points. It has taken a little getting used to with the increased firmness but after three weeks I cannot see myself returning for anything different. The price and value seem to be very fair but it is not as soft or cloud like as they make it out to be. Also their customer service is top notch, this is probably another reason I would buy from them again and again. I ordered the wrong size initially (cal king, king? Same thing right?) and of course it wasn't the correct size and did not fit my bed frame. One call and 15 minutes later they arranged for a new order of the correct sized mattress and also arranged to pick up the original mattress I had ordered at no fee. Thanks purple!

When I first got the Purple mattress and slept on it for a couple of nights, I was really trying to enjoy the mattress (Being this is the first time I actually bought a mattress which cost more than the last full size bed I bought with Frame) but it just seemed to sink down too much when I laid on it. It was very hard to turn or even roll over because I was sunk down so much into the mattress. When I went online and looked at reviews it said you can put the mattress on your old box spring and it would be fine, which I did. This was a big NO NO. When I see how the new bed frames are now being manufactured, I notice there is no need for a box spring any more. So I took out my box spring and bought a frame with a thick flat bottom and put the mattress on it. You would not believe the difference in firmness and support of the mattress when laid on a hard flat surface. Made a world of difference, and now I have to say, the purple mattress is a very awesome and comfortable mattress.

I just slept on the mattress for 1 night so far but I jumped out of bed instead of rolling out of bed and I had zero aches and slept all night. I still rolled from side to side but I think that will go away once my brain knows I don't have to any longer. Thanks for a great night and great day!! I will keep everyone posted in a week
