This bed is a great investment. For a long time, we have looked forward to owning a Purple bed, because reviews and marketing look so great. Now that we finally have one, I can say it wasn't a waste of money, and is indeed a great investment. Sure, it is not cheap, but I think it will last us a long time. It is very comfortable and is easy on your back. Overall, this is a great purchase!

Pros: We Love Love Love the amazing feel, soft and supportive at the same time. It really does react to your body like all the videos show. Cons: it's very very heavy. Wouldn't think that would be a big deal after getting it initially set up, but I'm reminded of it every couple weeks when I change the sheets. Makes a dull chore even more difficult. And speaking of sheets, most don't fit very well since it's not as deep as a normal mattress. Pros outweigh the cons for us - we loved it enough to keep it after the trial ended!!!

Research and Purchase: My biggest hesitation with this purchase was buying something I never tried out as Purple only has less than a handful of locations where you can go and check this thing out. After seeing the commercials and doing a lot of mattress research though, I kept coming back to the Purple Gen 2 Mattress. Reading the reviews it appeared to me that most people either love it or hate it... and that was for most other mattresses as well to be fair It seemed that the people of larger sizes had more problems with the Purple Gen 1 mattress because it has no mechanical structure for the additional weight. Since I am 6'2" tall and weigh 215 lbs, I decided to go with the Gen 2 which is a hybrid and contains coil springs in the hopes I wouldn't experience the issues others my size did on the Gen 1. I purchased the Cali-King Purple mattress with the 3" Smart Control Grid. I also ordered the sheets and mattress cover. Preparation: After I ordered the mattress I built a horizontally-hinged 3/4" HPVA Birch plywood base to go over my low-profile box springs and beefed up the lower base supporting the box springs with additional cross beams and legs (17 total! you could park a truck on this thing) to support the additional weight of the mattress and to provide a solid base with no sag. (you cannot put this mattress on regular box springs) Delivery Process: Simple with plenty of email confirmations and status updates and I had my new mattress in about a week. The guys had a time getting it up to the second floor and to my room because of the weight and bulkiness so make sure you know where it's going because moving it afterwards will take some effort. (There must be a reason why handles are not installed on the sides of this mattress but they would definitely aid with moving it around.) I opted for removal of my previous bed. I don't know where they ended up taking it but I hope it's burning in an incinerator somewhere... First Impressions: Finally, after putting on the cover and regular cotton sheets, I tried it out. (The purple sheets didn't arrive until the following week) This mattress has a different feel than a memory foam or regular mattress for sure. It's hard to explain but it doesn't take more than minutes to love it! While my memory foam guest bed is really soft, spongy and hot, my 3-year old mattress (with a pillow top) in the master was considerably hard when compared to the Purple. It really does achieve a soft and firm balance. After laying on the bed I quickly realized how the Purple mattress was cradling my body and equally distributing my weight across the surface I was lying on which just felt amazing. I actually started to fall asleep within minutes. The first night of sleep was the first night in a long time that I slept through the entire night without constantly waking up and rolling around to get comfortable. I am a back sleeper but occasionally sleep on my side too. This bed seems to accommodate me in either situation. The bed isolates movement very well too so I wasn't bothered by my wife getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The bed also sleeps cool but it's not like cold at all. The edges of the bed holds up when sitting on the side too, which was a complaint on the Gen 1 mattress. I have to say that when I added the Bamboo sheets, the experience became even better. I don't typically like jersey sheets but these are really amazing. They don't cling to you when moving around under the covers and are soft and silk-like. An added bonus... for me anyway... is that since they are so stretchy, my wife can no longer un-tuck my side of the bed leaving my feet out to freeze in the breeze of the fan. The Verdict: For me this thing is the holy grail of mattresses. I don't know how in the world someone wouldn't enjoy sleeping on this thing. Yes it may be pricey if you have a Cali-King but some of my wife's handbags cost as much and do absolutely nothing... and then end up in the closet the next year... and eventually the hands of my 20 something daughters the following year. Crazy! Anyway, I've had neck and upper back pain for years and the Purple mattress has seemingly fixed all this! So far I've been sleeping on my Purple Gen 2 for about two months and the most pleasant surprise of all is the near disappearance of my chronic neck pain! Over the past few weeks I've noticed that my neck pain was less than the previous day and today it all of the sudden donned on me, that I have no neck pain! AT ALL!!! I absolutely love my Purple!! I am so glad I bought this mattress! I have been sleeping soundly ever since and have no regrets!

I've always had a memory foam top mattress and it was so hot to sleep on & it didn't take long for there to be dips in the mattress from sleeping on it at night. The Purple Mattress has been a godsend & miracle for the quality of my sleep at night. I would definitely buy again, best decision I've ever made when it comes to my sleep!

I'm not sure where to start. I weigh 370ish and I am side/stomach sleeper, I prefer a harder mattress. My wife sleeps exclusively on her side and likes a soft mattress. We weren't sure how we would do with this bed, but after looking at reviews and researching all kinds of different beds we decided to take the plunge. I immediately fell in love with the mattress, it was comfortable, my arms stopped falling asleep, and I was getting good sleep. I love that I can sleep clear at the edge of the bed without falling off. It is comfortable to sit and read on. My biggest concern for me was my weight, would I just go all the way down and feel like I was sleeping on a hard platform, this just wasn't the case, it is super comfortable for me too. My wife took about a week to finally decide if she liked it or not, but now loves it. She is getting great sleep as well. She says she doesn't feel me rolling around, getting in and out of bed, etc... and the hardness isn't like a hard mattress, it still has give to it. It sleeps nice and cool and I am so glad we chose it over any other mattress.

I was disappointed with the overall height as its so short. Also, while not as hard as memory foam, it still not as soft as I would like. Finally, within month of trying it, I already have a swell beginning to form. At 230lbs, I'm not a snowflake, but I'm also not a cow either.

My husband is loving this bed. My husband has suffered many back issues and he hasn't complained once. For me - it's a bit too firm for my liking. It took a bit of getting used to. It's not a conventional mattress with conventional qualities. The square grid is every evident when touching the mattress with your hands but you can't feel the grid while laying down. It took some time to get used to feeling the grid rather than a standard fluffy mattress feel. But once laying down and settled, there isn't a single pressure point around.

I used to wake up to shoulder pain and a numb arm on my old mattresses. As a regular side sleeper, I was hoping this bed would cradle and support me while relieving pressure. I was skeptical, but man I'm finally able to sleep on my side all night and wake up with no pain or numbness. Also as a semi-regular stomach/back sleeper, I was hoping this mattress would also be firm enough to support but not cause pain. I'm able to sleep in any position now with just the right amount of cradle. Won't be going back to a non-Purple mattress! Weight: 150lb

well as a teen and going through high school has been rough, I've had no time to sleep so this product has not been worth my money invested, however, I did manage to create a science fair project using your mattress and raw eggs, it made for an easy 100, thank you Purple Matress!

I have replaced the mattress once after one year. Now it needs replacing again one year later. The adjustable bed frame is broken. I am a 64 year old and have to pay someone to switch mattresses. If you weigh more than 200 lbs don't get this mattress.
