I'm giving a 3-star rating because of perceived mattress quality, delivery, and good customer service. However this mattress did not work for me at all. I purchased the Purple Hybrid with 2" Grid. I am 5'7", weigh around 125 lbs, and am primarily a back sleeper. The mattress felt too firm in places and too soft in others. When you see the little photo they show of a molded plastic piece simulating shoulders and hips pressing into the mattress, and the mattress pressing back upwards against your back - that is exactly what it felt like for me in a very unpleasant way. The mattress pushed against my upper back too much while letting my hips sink too low. This aggravated my lower back pain and made it worse. Not to mention I had a sore upper back from the mattress not accommodating the weight of my shoulders pressing downwards into it. Side sleeping was definitely not an option at all. The mattress was overall too firm while strangely still letting my hips sink in too much. Perhaps it is because I purchased the 2" grid, which is firmer. It was suggested that I try the 3" grid, but at that point the cost was exceeding my budget and I wasn't convinced that would solve the issues I was having. Also the mattress was already super heavy - didn't want to get something even heavier. Other reviewers mention being able to feel the grid - I didn't find this to be an issue and really didn't notice it at all. Overall seems like a quality product. Just did not support my back in the way I needed.

I have given this a month but I'm not very happy with this bed. I wake up with my neck and lower back hurting almost daily. My husband sleeps like an angel but I can't seem to get comfortable. I'm a side sleeper and he's a back sleeper ... it's pretty firm... also holds heat like crazy!

My wife and I have been trying to find a mattress that works for the both of us. I am mainly a side sleeper and she shifts from her back to her side. We've tried many memory foam mattresses and they always seem to work for one but not the other. The Purple Mattress however has been great for both of us! It feels firm for back sleeping but then relieves pressure points in our shoulders and hips very well when we're lying on our side. Highly recommend!

We live in hurricane country which is extremely humid and warm. I struggle with sweating in my sleep so my husband and I decided to invest in this mattress. Shortly after purchasing, we were hit by a hurricane that knocked our power out for 5 95 degree days. Our purple mattress and sheets were a lifesaver. Even though the house was 87 degrees, we did not sweat thanks to the beds breathability. The only misery was that our heads sweated from the goose down pillows. Once we save up enough, we'll probably place an order for the purple pillows.

My husband and I were having a lot of body aches and we knew it was because of our old mattress. I was looking for mattresses that would fit our budget and our needs. I was actually going to get a memory foam type mattress, but the have reputation for being hot and loosing shape overtime. I stumbled upon reviews of purple and was quite interested. After much discussion with my husband, we purchased the original type. My hips stopped hurting as much as they used to, my back feels much better. My husband falls asleep much faster and for all night (unless I wake him up). What took is by surprise was, we didn't realize how hot our last bed was! This mattress allows your whole body to breathe. I don't wake up in the middle of the night because heat and my husband doesn't sweat while sleeping! We got it with the mattress protector and let me tell you, it's worth it! It doesn't have a plastic feel. Its stretchable and it definitely protects. Also paired with the purple blankets. Amazing bes! I can't wait until I'm able to purchase their pillow! I need new pillows.

I am very happy with this mattress, it has been a super comfortable sleeping experience. This is the second one I have purchased, the first one for me and this one for my daughter. I would highly recommend to anyone who has back pain as these mattresses have helped our family with ours!

I will keep it simple. I have Harrington steel rods in my back and have back and hip problems. With my new purple bed. I don't wake up with numb legs or pain. I haven't been able to sleep flat on my back in 25 years I could only sleep on my right side. Now with the purple I can sleep flat on my back and my left side. I love my purple it gave me life back

When I moved into my new apartment I went with a pillow top from a mattress clearance store at a comparable price. Big mistake. I had already been having some stiffness and occasional back pain on the mattress I had been sleeping on four previous years. As a large man (then 300lbs now 350lbs) mattresses tend to sink in some after time which negates any support/alignment. I was hoping to get three years out of my new mattress, however, I only got about 3 months out of it before I started experiencing daily back pain upon waking. It got so bad it started waking me up in the middle of my sleep. I could barely get out of bed most mornings. I was skeptical about buying a "bed-in-a-box" and from what I could tell after days of research didn't think they could hold up to my weight. Eventually it got so bad that I couldn't continue with the same mattress anymore. I looked at a few options and purple caught my eye again. I was hesitant because of a few reviews I had read previously about long delivery times and a lingering smell. Then I read a well written review by a fellow military veteran that just resonated with me. He carried weight also and could not seem to find a solution to morning back pain. Purple worked for him. I was desperate enough that I ordered my mattress right away. It actually arrived before the scheduled date and I got a free set of sheets to boot (surprisingly these are the best bed sheets I have ever had - don't wrinkle - stay taut and tucked!). There was no lingering smell from the mattress (I washed the sheets before putting them on the bed). I could tell that there was a difference fairly quickly. It only took a few nights for the stiffness to reside. One month later, I now wake up pain free. The mattress compressed a little bit under my weight (which I expected), but the nature of the top layer keeps me from actually sinking in and does exactly what it claims. It would be silly for me to say that this bed is the solution to your back pain because everyone is different. At my weight I have to be careful not to "plop" down because I can hit the supporting frame (a wooden platform type to keep the bed low to the ground). But when I lay down at night I no longer dread waking up and barely being able to stand let alone roll over to get out of bed. The technology behind the top layer is awesome. They send you a little sample that you can press on. When you put your finger down the only part that compresses or moves is directly under your finger. Thank you to the makers who thought to incorporate this into a mattress. I am forever grateful for my Purple mattress. Now for another peaceful nights sleep :)

Have had several mattresses over the years, trying to find one that doesn't give my wife and I back pain when we wake up. We're both side sleepers. Was very excited and optimistic about the Purple mattress arriving. Customer service was fantastic and they make the whole experience fun and customer friendly--right down to the unpacking of the mattress! We've only had it a couple of weeks, and although the mattress seems VERY comfortable when we go to bed and feels awesome--we still wake up with our backs hurting. Not sure, given the fact that we've been through so many mattresses that we can blame this on Purple, but so far it hasn't solved it for us. I'd still recommend this mattress just based on the customer service experience and cool technology.

My wife and I like differing mattress characteristics, yet somehow both LOVE the people mattress. Supportive and cool, it's a great night's sleep. Do yourself a favor and get the sheets. They may be the best part. Get them even if you don't have the mattress. Products are great, customer service is even better. Purple has it figured out!!
