My wife and are both pretty short about 5'5 140-150 pounds. Bed was a lot firmer than we expected. The first few night we woke up feeling stiff as a board and began talking about returning it. We gave it some more time and now we love it. Best thing I can say is just give it time for your body to adjust to the mattress!!

I purchased the original purple mattress back about 6 months ago and quickly decided that it was too thin. I contacted Purple and was able to exchange the original for the all-new purple mattress, which I was very happy to hear. They did tell me that this second mattress would not qualify for the money back guarantee though, and I decided to go forward with the exchange anyway. I was so optimistic that this would be the mattress of my dreams! So I took the risk and now about 3 months with the new 2-inch purple mattress, neither I nor my husband is happy with it and I can't send it back. I'm stuck with it! We are both experiencing back pain, that we did not have previously, and there are noticeable dips in it as well. It's just not the quality results that they advertise. I am looking forward to getting rid of it sometime soon and maybe trying the sleep number bed.

I had a "thick" (18 in) foam mattress. Loved it. Except, when it got heated up just by my sleeping on it. Then, it mostly felt like I was sleeping in a spoon.... with a Bic lighter turned on under it. The foam was just plain hot and like a sink hole. On average, I'd say I was waking up every 3 - 4 hours because of the "confined" feeling and the heat. The purple mattress ..... it's pretty dang sweet. First, There is NO sinking feeling. Second, it 'feels' like something between an ocean wave and an old "box spring" from the 1950's (minus the creaky springs and the unevenness of the springs but it has (what feels like) the 'suggestion' of a spring bed). Third, it is not hot. Fourth, the "sinking feeling" is just gone and this is like floating on the ocean foam that you see right at the beach where the waves dump it. It is 'light' and you have the solid cushiony feeling of the water underneath to support you - except there is no water. Basically, I do not wake up. I am not experiencing that 'sauna' feeling (which is okay ... when you are in a sauna ... but, not okay when you are in bed ... trying to sleep). This is a pretty sweet mattress. I suspect I am going to be a pretty happy camper for quite some time.

I suffer from multiple herniated discs in my lower back and didn't think that there was a bed that could really help me. I purchased and started using the Purple mattress approximately a month ago and my back pain has improved DRAMATICALLY! It's truly been a life changer for me. Thanks, Purple!

The mattress is great. Love it. I think that their website needs to point out just how long it takes from order to delivery. When I ordered, I made an assumption it would be a couple of weeks later, but it was almost a full month from order to delivery. Purple should make delivery lead times for products CLEAR on their quotes at time of order, so that customers can make an informed choice at that point. I needed the mattress for a guest bedroom for arriving guests. Because the mattress took longer than I expected, the guests had to sleep on an air-bed for the first 3 nights.

Since sleeping on my purple the pains I've had in my back and shoulders has been completely gone. I went out of town for busninsss and sleeping on the hotel mattress brought back all those old pains. Being away from home has made me realize I'll be missing my mattress when ever I leave now.

My wife and I are both side sleepers and so when it came time to get a new mattress we wanted to check out Purple. It is comfortable to sit on and laying down on it isn't too bad but we only got a good night sleep 1 out of 5 days. We both tossed and turned the majority of the time. I have had back pain in the past and I will say that I didn't experience any of that with Purple. Physically I felt great in the morning but mentally I was super tired. If you are less than 160lbs and a side sleeper I would be cautious. The "spring back" from the gel grid seems too strong and we felt it in our shoulders creating pressure points and discomfort. Seems like it is designed for a different demographic. I am jealous for the people that love this mattress because I really, really wanted to love it. Will have to go back to temperpedic for considerably more $$.

I probably set my expectations too high. It was great at first, but now or lately, it feels like the initial support is gone; the mattress gives up during the night, almost taking me to the center, and I do not feel any significant difference with my previous bed, except on the cost, perhaps. I did buy the twin size in advance before I buy the queen and king size for the new house, and I am sorry to say I will not be being doing that base on this experience, which is not terrible, but it's just ok, so I can't justify the extra expending. On the other hand, I have purchased the seat cushions for my home office sets, hoping those work better, so keep the good work. I hope this review helps you keep improving. Kind regards Aldo

Our bed before was a queen hand down, approximately 15 years old. When we got the purple, my first impressions were rthday it seemed smaller (less room for my husband and I) and that it was cooler. I still woke every day with terrible back pain, plus my arms were going numb when I laid on my back on the purple mattress. I was generally dissatisfied for the first 45 days or so, but as time has gone on, I do find myself sleeping better with less painwaking me up in the middle of the night and I generally feel better in the morning. My friends had an immediate positive response to the their purple but mine just took a bit longer to get there. We are happy with our mattress (although I'm still wishing for the dimensions of a normal mattress - my husband is a big guy) I once heard that when your body is messed up for awhile, it takes awhile for your body to get back to normalcy. I think that's what happened in my case. The power base is good, although we hardly ever use the functions. It does shake a bit when my hubby kicks with his restless legs. The purple mattress doesn't absorb his movements.

Although this mattress wasn't right for me, the Purple company really shines in customer service! I returned my mattress for a full refund after about 80 days of trying it out. They coordinated the pickup and all I had to do was wait for the movers to pick it up... at no cost to me! The bed was much too firm for me (being a side sleeper). If it had more of a foam layer on top, it would have been perfect.
