I must admit my expectations for this mattress may have been unrealistic. It had raving reviews, the commercials were "fun", and I had laid on a bare purple grid at a local mattress store... I just KNEW the mattress would be perfect for my spouse and I. We both have back issues and struggle to find a mattress we are both comfortable on. The first couple of weeks were pretty nice... A step up from our sleep number bed... But... As time wears on we are waking up with back pain like we do with every mattress. It doesnt cradle as much as we anticipated and as a usual side sleeper find it puts pressure on my hips leaving sore areas which causes me to roll to my back to sleep. In turn my back seems to be hurting more from sleeping on it. I also had a recent fall on my back so am trying not to "count it out" as just the mattress. We are considering returning the mattress while we are still in our 100 night trial. It is on the firmer side for those who like a firmer mattress and I suppose we need just a little more give than this mattress offers. We have also considered getting a pillow top mattress topper to add a little more cushion to the mattress. We do love that it sleeps cooler than a typical mattress and doesnt have the heat that memory foam does nor is it overly cushiony like memory foam. Overall it is a good mattress in comparison and we definitely recommend it over a sleep number bed. We dont wake each other up with our movements or if one of us gets out of bed. Our weight differences also dont create an issue. With other mattresses my spouses side sags under my spouses weight (my spouse weighs more than I do but neither of us are overly large) and I tend to have to sleep on the firmer edge to avoid rolling into them as I strain my back to stay on my side as my side is higher and slopes down into them. That isnt a problem with this mattress. Ultimately, a little more cusion on the top amd I think this mattress would be a lot better!

I have to say that I am not one for writing reviews. I can honestly say I've probably written at most 5 over the last 15 years. But when a product no matter how much or little it costs totally exceeds expectations, then I feel compelled to let everyone know. My wife and I fell in love with this mattress in seconds, literally. I didn't think it was possible but as soon as we laid on it straight out of its awesome packaging, we knew it was a major hit. If you asked me is the mattress firm I would say yes, if you asked me if the mattress is soft I would say yes. It's really one of those things that it's almost impossible to describe how it feels. It doesn't really matter, it is without a doubt the best mattress I have ever slept on. I've had Tempurpedic, Ghostbed, higher end inner spring mattresses, etc. and none of them come close to the Purple. It sleeps so comfortable and temperature neutral, it is pure heaven. Thank you Purple for making that 30% of my life 1000% better!!

We got the king mattress and pillow. My husband broke his neck two years ago and hasn't slept more than an hour or two at a time. That is until we got our purple! Now he sleeps for 5-6 hours at a time. He can sleep in any position side, back, tummy. Before purple he could only sleep on his back for a short time. Purple has helped him so much! No complaints from me either. And I'm picky!

The bed itself didn't work for me. It did lessen my hip pain, but replaced it with nearly debilitating shoulder pain. I side sleep and nurse a baby ay night and can't move around much and the bed is quite firm. It didn't cup my shoulder. Also it's a very shallow bed - 9inches deep. This left a huge gap between mattress and headboard where all our pillows fell through. That said Customer Service had the bed removed from the house in about a week. They arranged pickup and asked no questions about why I wanted to return it. We got a refund within 24 hrs of the weekend pickup being confirmed.

Every night is the best sleep of your life. As your body adjusts to proper support (it takes time) your sleep improves everyday. I've had neck pain for years. After 2 1/2 weeks it's mostly gone away. By 1 month I'm sure it'll be gone. The upgraded sheets are worth it. So is the pillow.

I haven't slept in it much since I'm gone all the time for work but my girlfriend has done nothing but rave about it, she's in it every night. When I do sleep in it the mattress is much better then the hotel mattresses I am typically in. The only complaint is that there are no handles on the mattress so that when it comes time to move it I speculate it will be fairly difficult.

Long ago, I wrote off being unable to sleep on my right side as non-negotiable. Doing so hurt my hip and irritated my iliotibial band. I tried doing it anyway on my new Purple mattress. The pain went from a nine on the pain scale to a three, then a two...after eventually noticing no pain on that side, I giggled to myself. Throughout the night:D It's still a *** leg that needs rehab, but the Purple mattress has shown to be supportive without feeling like I'm sleeping on a board. In a certain sense, I don't "feel" the mattress, which is a lovely thing. It adapts to me, rather than that I have to adapt to it. No Goldilocks complaints of, "this is too firm" or "this is too soft", etc. It really is just right, whether sleeping on my back or on my side. It also seems made for those who like to sleep on top of, not sunken into, their mattress. I admit I was bummed out by seeing the introduction of Purple's new mattresses one week after placing my order. That said, I love that the price point of the original mattress makes Purple's technology and convenience accessible. It's doing superbly by me, anyway. Thanks, Purple!

I moved my older purple to my guest room and I got a king for me and my soon to move in significant other. Ive had almost every memory foam mattress and the purple is hands down the best. To top it off its also reasonably priced. You simply can not go wrong with a purple.

Somebody wrote this bed is not for the big boys. He is 5' 9'' 230 lbs. Well i am 6' 2'' and 275 lbs. I can tell you there is no problem sleeping on this bed. I noticed if i sit on the edge of the bed it compresses down and i can feel the frame. No big deal. It does seem to be warmer than my old bed. I can live with it. I am physically messed up. Many back surgeries. Hip replacements. Shoulder surgeries. I normally change positions on my old bed over a dozen times every night. The purple bed has reduced the position changing to 2 to 4 times. Huge difference.

My wife and I couldn't figure out how to describe this mattress when we first laid down on it... not firm, not soft... it gives, but there is plenty of bounce... when my wife finally sat bolt upright and exclaimed the word she was looking for: "SO SQUISHY!!" It supports absolutely every bump, curve, nook, and cranny the same. It's a but uncanny the first couple of nights. But rest assured, this is the best mattress I have ever owned. One point of contention: If you are a side sleeper and are used to a softer mattress, this may take a bit to get used to.
