I've bought several mattresses over the past year and all of them seemed the same. They would always cause my shoulder to go numb throughout the night and I'd routinely wake up with lower back pain. Starting from the very first night on my Purple mattress, I've never had a single issue with body pain and have slept more restfully than I ever had previously.

Delivery- good. Mattress and sheets arrived within a week. Setup- easy, just unroll and cut out of the plastic. A little heavy to take up the stairs myself so would recommend two people. Side Sleep- terrible. The mattress is too firm. On both my left and right my arm goes to sleep so I cannot sleep on my side. I am 6 feet and 250 pounds so maybe too heavy for this mattress. Stomach sleep- good but I prefer sleeping on my side. Temperature- It starts out cool but within about 2 to 3 hours wake up hot. The purple mesh just collapses down to the firm foam and it traps the heat. Maybe they need to use more of the purple mesh instead of a mostly foam mattress. My girlfriend has back pain from this mattress and she sleeps on her back. Plan to return this mattress when the 30 days are up. Just does not work for us. Maybe upgrade to the purple 3. We have a friend who has had the original purple mattress for a year and she loves this mattress, so we gave it a try. She is also tall and about 250 pounds so similar size to me.

After my wife hurt her back we were in the market to replace our bed that we'd purchased a few years earlier. We did tons of research and everything pointed to Purple as the best option for lower back pain. Well, what a difference! It is amazing. Purple makes an amazing bed and we are sleeping the best we've ever slept.

For me personally, Purple was a 3.5 out of 5. I give it a 4 however because I personally prefer a softer bed and I expected purple to be a little more on the softer side. I'm not a heavy guy, but I do have minor back issues and purple is just seems a little too firm for my weight. I can easily see how others would enjoy it, however. I think yall got a good thing going.

It was very flat, and firm. I don't know why I expected a not flat bed when it came rolled into an air tight bag but I immediately didn't like how flat it was. And the firmness was too much for me. I didn't really it marketed as a "firm" mattress, so that honestly surprised me. But the sheets, buy them. They're worth every penny & feel like water. Also the customer service from purple has been amazing and the return process has been a breeze.

Started out very firm and supportive but 4 months of use and the foam is sagging pretty good, if you move to the middle of the bed where no on has been sleeping you can almost roll to the side of the bed. At this time I am still getting some back support but within a year I will probably be trying something else, to pricey to be sagging this soon.

Buying this matress has been nothing but a great experience. You sleep cool, the support on your body is great and the purple 100 day promise is great if for whatever reason none of the above works for you. Going to be buying another one soon for our guest room.

This bed gave me major back pain that I've never experienced before on a bed. I sleep on my side and back and it was so awful! I had an old king pillow top mattress before this. I'm 5"6 and a little overweight at 186 lbs and this bed was awful from night one. I even tried to give it over a week to see if my body was just adjusting to the bed. No way! By that time, I thought I had injured my back from working out or something and so I started icing it and I realized....my back only hurt when I was in the bed and after I woke up. So I slept one night on my feather down couch and the next morning my back felt way better. I slept in all the same positions too. I decided to sleep on my couch for a couple nights and then I tried the purple bed again. I was great on my couch and then gave the purple another shot but no luck. Sleeping on my side and back, I just felt like my back was being compressed and it hurt so bad. Also, the bed is only 9 inches high and that extra less of an inch can make a big difference. I just felt no support. I don't think this bed is good for curvy people. It looked wimpy on my king bed frame only being 9 inches too. So I decided to return it and I slept surprisingly well on my couch in comparison. In addition to that, I contacted customer care and they said someone would be in touch within 3-4 days. I didn't hear from anyone for over a week so I called again. This time they said someond would reach out to me within a couple days. When the guy called to set up a time to come pick up the bed, he wanted to come at 5 and I told him I could do between 530 and six and he said he could stay a little later. On the day he set up the appt for, he texted me and said he was coming at 5 and I called him back and reminded him I couldn't and he was almost going to say, too bad but I had to fight so he would come at 530! Wow! The whole experience was ridiculous. I was refunded within a week after they came and got the bed. At least the bed slept decently cool but I still woke up in a sweat one night. So not really that great. Worst bed for side sleepers and back. I don't really sleep on my stomach but I assume it would be even worse. At least they picked it up from my bedroom so I didn't have to drag it down the stairs. Horribly heavy and I'm a single woman. I decided to get the Layla bed and try it out and I haven't had any back problems whatsoever from it. This bed is overpriced and not as cool as they claim and not supportive. It's not because it was too soft. It was almost like the bed pushed on my pressure points instead of keeping the weight off them.

My husband and I LOVE this mattress. A little background info on us. My husband is a Marine who has always worked with his hands and on his feet. He has fallen off of aircraft injuring his shoulder and practices.competes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I am a critical care nurse working in a very high acuity unit in Nashville (I am on my feet most of my 12 hour shifts). The mattress/boxspring we had been sleeping on was bought my junior year of HIGH SCHOOL! That was 12 years ago! We both would wake in the morning with back pain. Sometimes just turning over in bed would wake me up because my back was just so uncomfortable in our old bed. For years we have been discussing getting a new bed, but the time was never right. Money was never right. And then a few months ago we heard about the Purple mattress. A friend of ours bought one and loved it. The price was great, it had raving reviews--we took some time to think about it and thought what the heck, we should just do it. Within a few days we noticed a difference! No more back pain, we were more rested- it was amazing. We have had this bed just over a month now and we have no complaints. We upgraded and purchased a king (we had a queen before, the base, the sheets and protector, and the pillows. The sheets are so soft and comfortable, the pillow only makes the bed that much more amazing... I would scream my recommendation for this mattress from the mountain tops if I could. My seven year old even loves it and wants to know when he will get one! Thank you Purple for creating this little piece of heaven. You have changed the way we sleep forever!

My advice is to retrain your body to lay straight, instead of shifting your hips or shoulders to settle into a traditional bed. Doing this, and you'll find that it's excellent at cradling your body. Give it a few days to get used to, it's a very different experience. It also does not get too hot, and so we actually have added more blankets, where we used to use less.
