I have been needing a new bed for a while. On my old mattress I woke up every morning with lower back pain, so it came time to buy a new one. A good friend of mine owns a purple mattress and she and her boyfriend swear by it. I decided to give it a try, and I have to say this is the best purchase I could have made. No more back pain, I don't wake up in the middle of the night sweating, and it's so comfortable.

I travel a lot for work, and can always sleep well enough in whatever hotel bed I find myself in. I never knew the feeling of wanting to come back to my own bed, except that it was mine. I understand now! I never knew that there are beds that are truly more comfortable than others. I went to mattress stores and of course, every single bed felt comfortable. I am really pleasantly surprised and excited about my bed!

My wife and I were on the market for a mattress for some time. We came across Purple and we were shocked by the egg test we decided to do more research. A few weeks later were were sleeping in a Queen size mattress, the original Purple. We have been so satisfied that we upgraded to a king size soon after. We had a great customer service experience as well. We are so glad we chose the Purple Mattress

Wow! Just wow! I never imagined how happy a mattress could make me. I have insomnia and back problems, and this mattress is so comfortable that it not only alleviates my back problems, but even relaxes me enough to help with the insomnia. I flop around a lot in my sleep and sleep on my back, side, and stomach at different points throughout the night, but with this mattress, all three are comfortable. I am seriously so so so happy I decided to take the plunge and buy this mattress! I was a bit skeptical at first, but it was well worth it!

Well, I did my due diligence and in researching the perfect mattress to buy I referred to Consumer Reports. They gave Sleep Number the highest rating so we bought a sleep number. Unfortunately, we hated the Sleep Number and it didn't help with the pain in my hips. So we sent that back. Then we ordered our next mattress online and we liked it but it was not relieving the pressure points on my hips. So, at my husband's insistence we ordered a Purple mattress. Not only did we love the video explanation but my husband's engineer-mind kicked into gear and he thought there was a lot about the structure of Purple that just might help me sleep better at night. And he was right...I couldn't lay on my right side for more than 5 seconds without the pain screaming for me to switch positions. Now that we have the Purple I am sleeping much better (still experiencing some pain every now and then but nothing like before). And we all know if momma ain't happy, nobody's happy. I am grateful that the other two mattress companies had the 100 day trials so I could end up with a mattress that really helped me. I've also learned that Consumer Reports is not always right.

We got in on this when it was in Kickstarter, so it's like 3 years old ish. for the first 2 years, I guess it was, it was a great bed. The first few nights hurt, but it turned out that it was simply realigning our backs. after that it was like being born anew. where I had back issues before from sleeping, now I could move freely and slept through the night, waking feeling refreshed. all seems great except after less than 2 years, now both sides of it are sunk in and useless. I'm a big dude but by no means obese. I do physical work for a living so just my day to day keeps me in shape. we tried rotating the bed but it doesn't help as even my wife's side, and she weighs much less than me, is sunken. there is one spot that is still good down the center, but I can only use that when she's out of town. were to the point that she's offering to sleep in the guest room because I wake up hours early now in pain and simply cant sleep more than 4-5 hrs on this thing before the pain is unbearable. I've come to look forward to my out of town work trips because literally any hotel bed rests me way way better than my home purple one. I would have said 5 star out the gate but as of the last year I'd have to say 1 star. I let it keep an additional star because it use to be great, but even with the purple frame, the purple pillow and the stretchy bamboo sheets, this thing has become a torture device. for the price, I really feel it should last longer than 2 years. we are trying to sell our house right now and we are looking forward to tossing this thing out when we move and trying a different bed that hopefully will be much better on us for a much longer period of time. I'll keep the pillow I think because I like how cool it sleeps and my neck has no issues with it, but the mattress itself is eating my lower back alive.

This mattress is OK when it comes to comfort but definitely not worth the price. You could get something comparable for much less. You will need to get a topper because you can feel the grid (which is not all that great). The topper, we bought, could have been put on a cheap mattress and got the same comfort level/feeling. The bed was a little too firm and I didn't get the impression I was sleeping on a high end mattress. Overall I wouldn't recommend this mattress and it should be at least half the cost. Save your money and get a cheaper mattress and purchase a mattress topper. The whole purple grid was pretty lackluster in my honest opinion with or without a mattress topper. The packaging was great and super easy to unwrap.

After two plus years I am still pleased with my Purple mattress. None of the other new types of mattresses can touch this one. All seem to rely on memory foam. Memory foam traps heat in order to perform its shape shifting. What is not widely understood is that memory foam continues to trap heat and continues to compress until it is barely the thickness of cardboard. I used to have a memory foam lumbar support cushion in my car. On cold days it was hard as a rock. On hot days it was softer than oatmeal. The Purple offers me temperature comfortable sleep. The only catch is that your mattress pad and sheets need to be stretchy otherwise you lose the "soft where you need it" qualities. Looser fitting sheets and a stretchy mattress pad work best. My last sweat drenched sleep was the nights before my Purple arrived. Caution: have friends over to help carry this thing and get it positioned. Have it on the bed before you open it. It is pretty wobbly because of its build, so it is difficult to carry while unrolled. It is very heavy with a king weighing in at 140 pounds. The lady UPS driver made carrying the rolled mattress look easy. I thought I would have it easy only to try to lift it and receive input from my back muscles telling me the chiropractor was waiting. I waved as she drove away and ducked into the garage for the hand truck. OK, I admit, after I had it centered on the bed, I jumped on the mattress like a kid. I fell backwards onto it trying to get it to not cushion my fall. Even standing on the mattress I was unable to compress it enough to feel the solid foundation below it. By the way, an ordinary box springs cannot handle this mattress. However, if you cut a piece of 0.5" or 0.75" plywood to fit over the box springs, you should be just fine. Soft sided water bed box springs work perfectly. The only negative thing is the dogs love it as much as we do. They asked me to get them their own and I told them they did not need one. They thought otherwise. Now I get to share with them. I get a thin slice out of the king size mattress that is 6' long; the dogs take up the rest of the space. And they growl if I disturb their beauty rest!

My husband and I had been shopping for a new mattress for months, and we decided to try out Purple based on reviews and product videos. We're SO happy we did! I'm a stomach and side sleeper and he's a back and side sleeper. We both have back issues and pain. We no longer wake up stiff and sore every morning! There was a period of adjustment (about 2 weeks for us) but now I'm sleeping better than I have in a long time, and we both couldn't imagine sleeping on a different mattress! It's definitely worth trying to see if it works for you!

I kept the mattress (Original Queen) for just over two months, hoping that it would get to be more comfortable. It did not. I tossed and turned every night on it; some mornings I woke up really sore and stiff. I am a side sleeper and felt no support for my pressure points and the motion transfer was non-existent (I could feel a 10 lb cat walking on the other side of my bed). When I contacted customer service to explain I might be returning it, I stated that the new purple 3 or 4 mattresses were too expensive for me. The rep told me that they have a "great exchange program" for anyone still within the trial period, I would just need to go visit a showroom. The way it was worded, it made me think they offer a deal for the more expensive mattress - other people I shared the email with thought that as well. So I went for an hour drive to Alpine to check it out. Turns out there is no "great exchange program." I would just have to pay for the more expensive mattress and they would coordinate the pick up/drop off. I felt it was really misleading since I had clearly stated I was not going to spend $2000+ on a mattress when I have already tried one from their company. When I shared this poor experience with customer service, I got a response that pretty much made it sound like the rep just wanted me to go there, I'd see the new purple mattress, and would decide to spend more money regardless of the price. Also, heads up about the 100 night sleep guarantee - you have to have your return process completed before the 100 nights are up. Per the return form: "In order to get your refund, this return must to be completed and a donation receipt emailed to us by the end of your 100 night trial." So don't think you can actually try out the mattress for 100 nights - if you do, and do not like it, you won't be able to return it.
